Re: Fire destroys temple and pagoda in Sichuan

The temple dates back to the Ming dynasty and the pagoda stood 16 stories high and was called one of the tallest in the world. Re: HHST Yamantaka initiation 2018

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

Yeah, I suspect Malcolm is right. Anyway, an Afghan calling the Tibetans out on harsh punishment is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. Read about the traditional culture of the Pashtuns sometime. I will, in the meantime, try to read "Voyage" just for general Tibetological interest -- is i...

Re: Buddhist Billionaire plans to change China

Sure there are people devoted to Tsar Putin for various reasons. However he can't manipulate the constitution endlessly and his time will likely really be up after the coming election (which he will once again steal). The revitalized institution of the Tsar won't outlast him (which I admit is *cont...

Re: Buddhist Billionaire plans to change China

That's what I thought. Putin revived the institution of the Russian Tsar. This has been a problem and will be a problem for Putin himself in the future. It may not be a real problem for Russia though since the instituion isn't beloved by Russians. Kirt Unlikely .... Sure there are people devoted to...

The following discussion suggests some inferences about the origins of the Naths that many Sanskrit scholars will not like.
Buddhist yogis became Naths. That isn't so controversial. Was there something else?

"Heartdrops of Dharmakaya" (although it does not directly discuss either karma or transmigration).

"Naked Awareness", Karma Chagme, Gyatrul Rinpoche

"Bardo Teachings: The Way Of Death And Rebirth", Lama Lodu, Kalu Rinpoche

Re: Buddhist Billionaire plans to change China

So you would classify Vlad Pushkatin a far-right fascist or a communist that manipulates the far-right fascist movements for his benefit? Who is Vlad Pushkatin? Putin. That's what I thought. Putin revived the institution of the Russian Tsar. This has been a problem and will be a problem for Putin h...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

When we read records of foreign merchants' journey in Tibet in the end of the XIXth and beginnings of le XXth century, we see that they were horrified by what they witnessed. For example, a kashimiri travaller wrote in his diary that there were human skins that were hanging in Sakya Monastery hall....

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

Tibet's history is a blood bath no doubt. But it's across all humanity. People will always, kill, rape and steal and rejoice about. Theres nothing to fix it. So much pride for nothing, as a collective we are infinity worse then any lice and ticks. There is something to fix it: realisation of Dharma...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

There are in fact Westerners raised as Buddhists in a somewhat Buddhist culture (Buddhists in Hawaii for example, possibly in other parts of the US as well). While this may be true, it is also completely irrelevant to the point I was making. So what exactly was the point you thought you were making...

I am starting to think that our believe in existence of well-adjusted and normal people is what is keeping us from being well-adjusted and normal. :D "The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well" -Alfred Adler Seriously though, you're right. There’s a line from Patrul that’s simila...

They exist in California, too.

Yes but California culture itself is not influenced by Buddhism whereas Hawaii is to some extent.
