Also as an aside, read some Ippen Shonin. Not directly relevant perhaps but there is an influence in his writing from more "esoteric" schools, and I found him really inspirational, almost like a PL wandering yogi.
What would you recommend?

Please sign petition to stop separating immigrant families

Please sign the following petition urging DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to stop separating immigrant familes on the US border. This petition is basically the same as the statement published online yesterday, Monday, 18 June, 2018 signed by numerous Buddhist teachers sponsored by the Soto Zen Buddhi...

Re: Difficulties to meet with one's Teacher

There are many methods of purification, some of which you must already have. I was said it is for 3 years exceeders. When I recite confession prayer I don't remember all breakages and transgressions. Don't worry about that. The 3 year thing is a rule of thumb at any rate. We should be doing Vajrasa...

We can safely predict people being elected like Trump far into the future (just as we have had them throughout...

Unfortunately Americans are overwhelmed by a great deal of complex hopeless, anger and other serious emotional disfunction. The Consumer Paradise is not the success that it tends to project. Good luck to them. The last venture I came across, run admittedly by dippy Buddhists who failed to understand the UK's requirements for a school curriculum, safety etc. , closed before the Govt could actually shut it down as as putting children at risk. If there are local legal, staffing, welfare a...

Re: New to the idea, currently in a state of flux

I don't know what to do, I don't know where to start, do I become Buddhist? If I so, where do I start? Do good. Don't do evil. Purify your mind. This is the teaching of all the Buddhas. Dharmapada 14:183 This is true for all forms of Buddhism but their will be different emphases within different sc...

Re: Hyongak Sunim fed up with Korean Seon

This is a sad situation. Hyongak Sunim is himself a jewel. As such I hope that he can marshall the energy of bodhisattvic revival and create a positive change. In a sense this is the entire history of Korean Zen. The entire world needs strong mahasiddhi (powerful Bodhisattva Sage) activity. The litu...
