Re: Rishi Stars?

It's not clear what you are referring to. The practice of the rishi stars is a form of upaya. The Dhammapada quote is a teaching that one needs to not neglect even slight meritorious practice as one accumulates merit slowly over time (and this fact is a major reason for Tibetan Buddhist methods sin...

Re: Rishi Stars?

All the waters in the world have been touched by the light of these stars countless times over, and yet, here we are. Think lightly not of goodness, ‘It will not come to me’, for by the falling of water drops a water jar is filled. The sage with goodness fills himself, he soaks up little by little....

Re: Rishi Stars?

Does anyone know the next date for when they come out? I would like to prepare for this event. 9 September according to the Rabten calendar. So while the Rabten calendar has 9 September as the start date the practice is a week long. So September 9-15. From Lama Dawa's group on FB: Healing Power of ...

Re: Praetorian Guard starting to move?

In the United States we do not have a Praetorian Guard but as Eisenhower warned us we do have a military-industrial complex that has several facets, one of the primary aspects of which is the intelligence community (itself a non-monolithic institution). Capricious lifting of former CIA director Bren...

What Happens When a Government Loses Its Compassion? by Roshi Joan Halifax What happens when a government loses its moral footing? When elected officials seem to be operating without integrity? When our politicians and their officials lack any semblance of compassion? These questions have been burn...

What are the rsi stars? I thought the 7 rsi’s were the seven stars of the Big Dipper, visible most nights in the N hemisphere Rishi-Star: This special astrological constellation causes the natural water-sources on earth to be transformed into nectar-like liquids. It is therefore particularly benefi...

Re: Praetorian Guard starting to move?

Democracy is unfolding in Australia and they may become the third major English speaking nation to become a democracy (after New Zealand and Canada). The Commonwealth of Australia came into being on 1 January 1901 with the federation of the six Australian colonies. The inaugural election took place...

Re: Praetorian Guard starting to move?

Caesar was “elected” dictator for life. He was killed to protect democracy. It didn’t work. The damage was done. I fear the same is true now. Really? How? The United States was never a democracy. The reassertion of the 1950's Deep South/Midwest KKK culture will obviously retard the USA even further...

Machig Labdron Wisdom from an Old Lady

Wisdom from an Old Lady For ninety-nine years, I have worked for the benefit of beings. Now this work is almost complete. I will not take birth again in this human realm in a physical form, nor will I leave behind any remains or relics. But my emanations in the world will be innumerable, and many w...

Re: Dharma government?

But what's happening in the encounter of Buddhism and the West, is that Westerners bring a lot of our anti-religious samskara to bear both for and against Buddhism. We can't help but seeing it through the prism of our own cultural baggage. I know this is something I struggle with. Some people strug...

Re: Buddhahood of Insentient Beings Exclusively East-Asian?

A dispute arose in Chinese Buddhism with regard to whether insentient beings possess a Buddha nature, but the view that Buddhahood exists as a potential in all things and phenomena prevailed in China. This idea also became widespread in Japan. (See also enlightenment of plants.) I am very intereste...

Re: Vajrasattva meditation & disturbing emotions

Hi. I'm just looking for some advice. I am more than halfway through my Vajrasattva practice (as part of my Ngondro practice) and I find that I'm struggling with what appears to be an increase in disturbing emotions, anger in particular. Is this a normal occurrence during the Vajrasattva purificati...

My question is whether or not that is possible when I already know the solution due to my work with other related Koans. I would also like to ask whether Kensho experiences keep happening as you continue working on Koans. Since my first breakthrough, I have had insights into some Koans but without ...

Re: Advice Needed

Hi Rachel - In general there are not that many physical communal living Buddhist communities in the West. There may be some in the British Isles that I am not aware of. You could check with the Irish Buddhist Union . In Europe there are nascent live-in Buddhist communities but these have generally b...

Re: Who is America ?

THis past week there was a great and eye-opening Frontline épisode about the Alt Right. These people are organized and dangerous. The United States will be lucky to at least in part escape something like the hysteria driven hatred that gripped Rwanda - not full blow genocide but larger scale murder...
