I don’t think so. What is paramount is the teacher-student relationship. The vajrayana was originally a personal and secret practice. You don’t need to be part of any community to practice. On the contrary, participation in a community probably increases the opportunities for breaching samaya. Yes ...

Looking for Thangka of Longchen Nyingthig Refuge Tree

Hi everyone,

I have a friend that is looking for a thangka of the longchen nyingthig refuge tree. I've found many posters and postcards, but no thangkas. I'm also wary of the ones I've found on ebay as the inconography may be incorrect.

Cany anyone point me in the right direction?

You aren't actually saying anything but seem to be chastising others for talking, Do you see benefit in re-hashing lama dramas? How so? I'm just asking you to define what exactly your issue is with the thread, or with the handling of the scandals generally. He wants to sweep it all under the rug an...

What? Yes, it's incredibly weird and nonsensical that Shambhala makes their students vow not to have any other teachers. This is a strategy of containment and damage control. Do you think that strategy was specifically meant to contain sex scandals/abuse allegations, or just damage control as a who...

Forget the sex activity of any individual. If Shambhala really makes people vow to not have any other teachers that puts it in the same catagory as the NKT imo. That’s institutionally a much bigger deal. I don’t understand how these two women can drop that bomb and just skip over it. What? Yes, it'...

Podcast - Love Letters from Golok: A Tantric Couple in Modern Tibet

Often when people think of Tibetan Buddhism they have a limited vision of that social reality, perhaps one that imagines monks sitting in meditation or focused on the Dalai Lama. Rarely is the historical role of female Buddhist masters central to one’s understanding of contemporary Tibetan life. In ...
