Re: Dealing With Demons

Pacifying, enriching, magnetizing and finally destroying and generally in that order.
To view sentient beings as pure evil is very Christian. Kindness and giving can break many demons. Some thrive on destruction.

Re: Latest report on Shambala abuse just released.

Dominance based hierarchies have innate problems. Shambala loves and idolizes them. Shakyamuni never did. They made this problem and confronting dominance and hierarchy is the only meaningful way out. Maybe this is what they are meant to do? Dismantling this demon based on materialist philosophies c...

Re: Praetorian Guard starting to move?

Trump is in no danger. When I was in the army I watched the number of contractors exceed 50% of troops in Afghanistan. About 65% of intel work is private now. Mercenary armies run the show. They pay 3 to 6 times what the army does and no Code of Service Discipline. https://theintercept.com/2017/12/0...

Re: Dharma government?

Their guiding creed is Islam, and a particular type . We don't know that it's the political system that is screwing things up. Ya, and our plutocracy is so amazing with our thousands of nukes, fake democracy and imminent ecological catastrophe. Why would we ever want to imagine improving our perfec...

Re: Dharma government?

Kings are not the only choice for a Dharma government. Iran has an interesting model where they have a clergy with an ethical veto on a democratically elected government. Applying the very dynamic and situational ethics Buddhism is famous for as a check against the inevitable oligarchy and plutocra...

Re: Charging for Dharma

Lets see, two pints of gold dust costs approximately $40,000 in todays money. So that is what Dharma teachings are worth? Is that their exact monetary value? Or would a billion dollars still be too little? You just proved my point. Did the Buddha charge for teachings? People donated vast tracts of ...

Re: Charging for Dharma

Old days teachers gave too much. Now many in the new generation treat it like a business. Some can't wait to get upstairs and count the money. Did the Buddha charge for teachings? Probably not considering he forbade monks from touching money. Capitalism is a revolutionary force. Everything has a val...

Re: Turning daily life into retreat

By retreat do you mean accumulating merit or parting the veil and revealing the nature of reality? The first one is easy. Accumulating merit can be done anywhere under almost any circumstances. Even during a war. For the second it is very important to be as invisible as possible. Don't let any world...

Re: A question on malas

Hello Everyone, I recite several different mantras and have set goals of 100,000 recitations per mantra for myself. My question is should I have a single mala, with counters, for each mantra or should I just stick with a single mala for all mantras and attach multiple counters? Thank you in advance...

Re: A question on malas

Where do you get good counters that don't fail after 50 to 60k? Or million counters that are better than a piece of thread. Most are just crap made for show. Like my comment, but still others should know where to get durable ones that last.

Shrine building resources.

I want to spend my dotage building shrines for people. Buddhism has almost enough translators but insufficient builders. Someone needs to build the shelves to store all those holy works, reinforced cement bases for the stupas and hermitages for the yogis. Does anyone have resources on the Feng Shui ...

Even a broken clock is right twice a day Greg. Having dealt with the people dealing with these injuries I hope it gets a high enough profile that they can get adequate medical treatment and pensions.

Re: US diplomats fall sick in Cuba, China. A new weapon?

I was an army medic. I've seen a number of soldiers and contractors with symptoms of being hit with unconventional Russian weapons. It seems to cook neurons. The more dense the neurons the more severe the damage. So auditory hallucinations are common when your brain is cooking. The long term prognos...

Don't Americans demand people get licenses, pass a driving test, take medical exams and carry liability insurance for owning a motor vehicle? Why not firearms?

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

America is weird. You think being forced to pee in a cup by an employer while they watch is ok but if someone wants to interfere with your ability to shoot paper targets on your day off to prevent school children from being mass murdered they are infringing on your rights. A US tech company asked if...
