Re: The Self-Arisen Vidya Tantra and The Self-Liberated Vidya Tantra A Translation of the Rigpa Rang Shar and Rigpa Rang

The 80th chapter is wondrous... :reading: Indeed it is. And in general, the whole book is wondrous.  Kevin... Agreed. I have been glancing over chapters that have piqued my interest. Especially since Malcolm generously gives a concise summary of each chapter in the introduction. Ext...

Longchenpa explains that in the center of the sambhogakaya buddhas hand emblems, a lotus blossoms; going straight upwards with the arrangement of twenty five pure lands. And to the left and right covering their kayas there are inconceivable and innumerable pure lands, and beyond that manifesting inc...

'Songs of Shabkar' is marvelous! It centers it's songs around specific themes; impermanence, nature, happiness, meditative experiences etc.

Reading through the introduction now. Very insightful.
It's precious to hold such sublime scriptures.
Very grateful for Arnoud who made it possible for me to have access to it.

Re: Illuminating Quotes by Malcolm Namdrol-la

Yidams "Yi dam" means "promise," actually. Thus, if you are a Dzogchen practitioner, your promise is vidyā. If you say that you are a Dzogchen practitioner, you are essentially claiming that vidyā is your yidam. Everything else is secondary. Anytime you take an empowerment, you are making a commitme...

Re: The Retreat Map--from Kongtrul's Retreat Manual

On the schedule in the other retreat thread, the ngondro practices were given with a time frame of 45, 60 days. Are retreatants accumulating 100,000 during this time? You continue accumulating throughout the retreat, esp. prostrations. But you can accumulate a lot in 60 days, four sessions a day.Fo...

Re: The Retreat Map--from Kongtrul's Retreat Manual

I'd be interested in a 'map' of traditional Nyingma retreats, correct me if I'm wrong but don't Nyingmas have 'shorter' retreats; "6 months on this" or "80 days" etc.

Re: The Retreat Map--from Kongtrul's Retreat Manual

For Kagyupas. it's pretty much a requirement. I always thought it was a Kagyu thing, but I thought you all at least had an option for a bed. I’ve heard Nyingmapas get a bed. At least the people I’ve spoken to that did their retreat under Dudjom R had beds. Here at Lama Norlha’s (Karma Kagyu...
