Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I'm wondering if by now there is no senior DC practitioner able to give DI etc. And if so........would people accept it. I do hope we in the dc succed in this, so many total realized beings appears from the west and the transmission keep living in a continuous way. for acceptance, much work is need...

Re: What's the point of abusive gurus?

Miroku, please read "The Biographies of Rechungpa: The Evolution of a Tibetan Hagiography" by Peter Alan Roberts. As Malcolm already mentioned, you may be surprised to learn there was not much troubles between Marpa and Milarepa, as well as between Milarepa and Rechungpa. This is a fascinating read...

Vima Nyingtik doesn't go through Padmasambhava. Also Semde and Longde.
Yes semsde and longde dont seem to be connected to G.R.
All i know is that the root of semde is Garab Dorje and that of longde Heruka Ngondzog Gyalpo.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Why the heck am I always confused when I try to figure out the webcast schedule of Namkhai Norbu? Go to this page and it tells you that the next webcast is beginning of June (i.e. in the past): https://webcast.dzogchen.net/ At the same time this website says there's a retreat in Vienna the upcoming...

Re: Intense Guru Dragphur?

How intense is this practice? I found a group of ChNN'S followers in Texas that are able to transmit the practice, but before I make a decision of taking up this practice, how intense is it? Would this be a wise practice to take up for a 15 year old busy with school work and studies? Is there a dai...

Thank you for your answers.

I started with Zen and Zazen practice, but the Theravada path fits better for me.
I feel it in a natural way.
.
If theravada is your thing maybe people at the sister site could offer more focused answers to your questions.

Re: Dzogchen materials not requiring DI?

Several gars do a session prior to WWT where they explain everything - I believe the NY location as a dial-in number for that. Worth joining if you can. of course. Some people in the past said " no, no no dont buy the guru yoga book because that is only intended for those with transmission". Really...

Re: Strategies for Keeping Practice in the West

The view that if you practice during daily life you do not need many hours of formal practice as well. It goes without saying that you should always be practicing during other activities. If, when one is introduced to the nature of mind they "get it" and can "maintain it", of what value is formal p...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Vajrasattva. Make sure you you do it in the context of the four powers. Then it will function as it should. Is there any good and reliable explanation on the Internet about how to do it that way? I dont know about internet but in short we start acknowledging and recognizing that we made a mistake, ...

Re: Is Monastic Ordination the Better Option for Single Dzogchen Practitioners?

Does anyone know whether in monastic life it would be easy to focus on Guruyoga and Dzogchen and treat all the Tantric practice as 'secondary'? As far as I know this is the normal way to practice in general. And in any case you can apply the main practice to any practice, so there is no need to dif...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Okay. I have seen him emphasize this too, but I am not sure how to take it -- if it is actually a samaya, then don't you only have 3 years to repair it, and then you're kinda screwed? That is very different from just a strong and unequivocal call to do the practice. If it is just the latter, then I...

Re: Is Monastic Ordination the Better Option for Single Dzogchen Practitioners?

But if you think that you would want to improve your capacity for dzogchen through tantra, then ordination in order to receive a tantric education, i believe is one way to go about it. Sorry dude, but I am going to call BS on this one. Nyingma monastics practice Dzogchen and ChNN teaches tantric te...

Re: Is Monastic Ordination the Better Option for Single Dzogchen Practitioners?

The supreme vajrayana guru is a fully ordained monk. This is taught very clearly in tantras such as Kalacakra. Westerners are enamored of upasaka gurus, the most inferior kind, with predictable results. [Original post] If this is the case, would it be best for single Dzogchen practitioners to ordai...

If there is a watcher, clinging to the state, a blockage for things to arise or dissolve, then it's almost certainly alaya. Mipham's A Lamp to Dispel Darkness is a wonderful text on this. http://www.lotsawahouse.org/tibetan-masters/mipham/mipham-lamp When you leave your mind in a state of natural r...

Re: Mipham Rinpoche channels Weinstein:

This is what i want to know. Is there a basis in scripture in asserting that a monk can be a better vajrayana teacher than non-monastics. Since all the riches were found in or around monsteries isnt this a veiled effort at preserving the vajrayana monastic status quo over the laity ? I cant help but...

I've just found this snippet from Dzogchen Teachings, Tashigar South: There are two types of presence. One is linked to your attention. You think, "I must not be distracted, I must stay present". You combine every action with this attention: this is ordinary presence. The other is when you discover...
