Re: The DJKR Topic

I find this quite distasteful.
He probably hopes that he can challenge people's views and attitudes to achieve some positive growth but unfortunately all he manages to do is upset everyone.

Re: enlightment in one life

Im just relaying information that is quite obviously a part of the discourse. Check Longchenpas references in his autocommentary to the choying dzod or tsig don dzod. The KG isnt the end all be all, or the only tantra. You're grossly minimizing the subject. Sure.. but you forget that in my OP i sta...

Re: enlightment in one life

Since everything, all obstacles all errors all non understandings all types of ignorance are nothing more than energetical manifestations of enlightenment it would be absurd to generate new categories for things that are separate from primordial state. Isn't that called monism? (The emperor has no ...

Re: enlightment in one life

There you go. There are still abundant descriptions of what enlightenment is not that are explicit in the texts. You seem to be hell bent in going ahead with "your texts" or "the texts". There is no such language employed in KG. You don't seem to understand. To speak of descriptionts of what enligh...

Re: enlightment in one life

All of the tantras speak of this...the opposite is included in this description. And given as a separate topic. Repeatedly, exhaustively. Longchenpa must have really confused (sarcasm). Your familiarity jab rings with great irony. If non enlightenment is included in the description of where we unde...

Re: enlightment in one life

I read it again. My response is the same. Exhaustive. The tantras, commentaries, and upadesha instructions repeatedly remind us what buddhahood is not. Unless of course you were trying to convey sarcasm in text form. Kunjed Gyalpo collection speaks extensively about how the universe is already enli...

Re: enlightment in one life

The tantras speak exhaustively on what enlightenment is not. You can see this in the quotes selected from tantras throughout the works of Longchenpa. You are obviously talking nonsense. Reread my post. I read it again. My response is the same. Exhaustive. The tantras, commentaries, and upadesha ins...

my point is that there is no reason to relly on enlightenment as a goal and that the misunderstandigs on this only makes mind "to bite it's tail" the concept of enlightenment the concept of what people think is enligntenment the concept of what schoolars think is enlightenment the concept of what t...

Re: Everybody speaks about samaya, but nobody knows what it is.

Deity's nature, your teacher's nature and yours are all identical.
If you know your nature and rest in it the samaya is being kept.
In other words just resting in your nature is keeping all the samayas you ever had.

Re: Longde correspondences

When looking at the 4 Da's of Longde and corresponding them to the 3 types of energy, Dang, Rolpa, and Tsal would Dewa be under Rolpa or Tsal? same for Salwa..would it be under Rolpa or Tsal? Mitogpa obviously would be Dang... The way i see it is that all three experiences would be generated due to...

Re: enlightment in one life

how do you think we can reach enlightment in this life? have you never come very close to the goal? This life is primordial enlightenment already. It is the manifest empty clear light of primordial enlightenment. The diverse preliminary methods of dzogchen helps us develop capacity to recognise and...

Re: Successful empowerment and conferral of samaya?

Providing that one has mastered the control over the dream state one could probably manipulate the conditions to such an extent so to make this meeting possible.
Once this is achieved there is no limit to the kind of teachings and empowerments that can be received.

Re: Guru Yoga thought experiment

It appears to me that smcj often sees Guru Yoga on an 'outer' level only. Well, yeah--at least as far as this thread goes. I mean, do you know of any scandals involving an inner or secret guru? If the outer guru has given you methods to realize the inner levels of Guru, then regardless of any scand...

Re: Belief

The initial approach to dzogchen methodology is ALWAYS based on belief.
"Belief is useless" statement is only valid in the context of already knowing and being familiar with the primordial state.
Once one understands primordial state there is no place left for mind related activities such as belief.

Re: who's ngondro is it anyway

You just need a text that explains what the signs are. Just to be clear: I am not being contrary, just trying to flesh out the subject. I am trying to understand here. The reality is that I am quite thick at times: I feel that the problem with this (having the text that explains the signs) is that ...

Unfortunatelly the quality of prolonged wrangling has suffered at times.
But overall we had enjoyed, on most occasions, a quite fine quality of prolonged wrangling.

Re: "Potentiality"

What does ChNN mean when he talks about "potentiality"? It is often used in a way that feels like a pep talk. OTOH, passages like "...the mirror has no idea of checking or accepting the object it is reflecting. The mirror doesn't need any program for that. This is what is called its qualification, ...
