Re: Vajrayana is not Tibetan Buddhism

Vajrayana is a synonym for Highest Yoga Tantra (HYT). Most of Tibetan Buddhism is not HYT (to those fortunate to be practicing HYT within Tibetan Buddhism, you are in the truest sense "Vajrayana practitioners"). Yep, Vajrayana is HYT and Mantrayana is Kriya and Yoga Tantra. Although I would add tha...

Re: Vajrayana is not Tibetan Buddhism

D. Germano on the same subject: "In Tibet, however, a brilliant renaissance of Buddhism began around the same time as the final flowering of Buddhist India, driven by a massive importation of literature, practices, and ideas from India across the Himalayas. Uniquely for Buddhist Asia, Tibetans impor...

I think there is the assumption that the teacher has to check the student there and then.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

And what is his name, please ? Is he active as a teacher ? I know nothing about him (and I am not even certain who it was that told me). Perhaps Malcolm know this? /magnus My memory is a little fuzzy here, but perhaps you refer to ChNN receiving Adzom Drugpa's termas from Adzom Drugpa's son, Adzom ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

No, I hope they will make booklet one day. Rinpoche gives the tibetan text of the sadhana if you ask and some people have done translations but I hesitate to mention them in an open forum. /magnus ChNN is the only known holder of ChchD teachings? Changchub Dorjes son, who gave ChNNR most of the emp...

I am not confortable going into details. More or less i had in mind the transmission of dzogchen state as is explained by Rongzom and others.
I already said too much.

Re: Teacher & Root Guru

The thing is that the guru cannot show you your nature even with the help of his own words let alone with the help of descriptions that come out from someone else's mouth.

Re: Teacher & Root Guru

Do you think the master is less qualified if they can't directly see all who received the D.i there and then? No, not that. Presumptions only would produce other projections. I know DJKR is a disputed subject, but still I would like to refer to his saying that student expect him to know what they t...

Re: Teacher & Root Guru

In Dzogchen, a root guru is the person who introduces one to one's primordial state in an unmistakable way. and later Jyoti wrote Or one can go even deeper and state that the state of vidya is the guru, and all gurus are included within this state of vidya. These external activities between gurus a...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Iv'e never owned a kindle , although I have heard they may not be the best to read PDF's through ? Anyone have any experie...

Re: Can a complete beginner benefit from Dzogchen practice?

Some of these people who have done several retreats have been scarred by their experiences and left and never came back. Some have benefited tremendously but very few. I've heard this before a few times here, and it sounds quite strange. How can it be that they were scarred, the result should have ...

Re: Can a complete beginner benefit from Dzogchen practice?

I have a close friend who has done 8 years and i know several others who have done 12 to 16 years of kagyu retreat. That's some serious retreat time. Even Tibetans have to respect those numbers. Are those people teaching? Still on retreat? Any public profile? Any chance of getting them to start pos...

Re: Can a complete beginner benefit from Dzogchen practice?

On Holy Isle the nun who is retreat lopon for women's retreat has done at least 4 retreats or thereabouts... The women’s retreat on Holy Isle is off limits, which is fortunate for them but unfortunate for us/me. So for the past 3 decades, quite a few people who were connected to samye ling have don...

Re: Can a complete beginner benefit from Dzogchen practice?

I’ve never heard of a separate “Dzogchen NgonDro”. The 7 lojongs, semdzins, outer, inner and secret rushen from upadesha class, no? Working with the essence of the elements, 6 lokas from sems de? Those are called “NgonDro“? If so, then ok. smcj does not practice or study Dzogchen. That's why he has...

A question to all in the know: In my quest for getting some idea about the system(s) of Dzogchen presentation I am finding out that knowledge on mind class (semde, sems lde) is quite hard to come by. All the world talks about the instruction class - threkchö and thögal - but the mind class is seems...

Re: Guru Devotion

In its essential form guru devotion means devotion to one's buddha nature. It is a bit counterproductive to be like a toddler that always depends on their mother for the rest of their lives never descovering their true real guru, their buddha nature. Of course we rely on our teacher's instrctions bu...
