open heart?

So I have come across Open Heart on another Buddhist message board, and it's throwing some major warning flags to me: https://www.en.openheart.fi Does anyone have any more information on this? They're claiming some endoresments here: https://www.en.openheart.fi/35937 But it all seems very fishy to me.

Re: Vajrayana. It’s Simple.

Find a teacher. Cross check their pedigree to ensure that they are lineage holders. Follow their instructions. Leave your beliefs and opinions outside the door. There ya go. It’s not easy. But it is simple. Here is the OP, Note ‘It’s NOT easy.’ Note ’check that their pedigree to ensure that they ar...

A handful of lifetimes following a genuine guru putting into practice "difficult" teachings is still way easier than innumerable kalpas in samsara.

Re: Mixing Worldly and Dharma Paths

Unless you add the "emulsifier" of Bodhisatvic motivation. I think it takes more than that - doing it with some kind of actual view of emptiness. Otherwise it's very easy to stray into habitual patterns of ego and clinging. Samsara is sneaky. The "emulsifier" of Bodhisatvic motivation actually aris...

Re: Mixing Worldly and Dharma Paths

A long time ago I was at a teaching by Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche and he said mixing dharma with worldly aspirations is like mixing water with oil. No matter how hard you try to mix them they're always going to separate.

Re: Twisting & Breaking the Buddhist Precepts because Form is Emptiness and Emptiness is Form

I think the teachings are pretty clear on this, from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche's As It Is Volume II: Guru Rinpoche also said, "Though the view should be as vast as the sky, keep your conduct as fine as barley flour." Don't confuse one with the other. When training in the view, you can be as unbiased, as...

Re: my local Karma Kagyu center is closed cult?

Well the current Karmapa is certainly non-sectarian: https://kagyuoffice.org/karmapa-in-manhattan-tibetan-community-turns-out-in-force/ That’s not the Karmapa candidate Diamond Way follows. —————————— Doesn't change the point about the 16th Karmapa. And from what I've read Thaye Dorje doesn't seem ...

Re: my local Karma Kagyu center is closed cult?

They told me that Karmapa through Ole Nydahl told them this. "if you choose the Karma-Kagyu then you are not allowed to read non-authorized books or books from different lineages because of declination of spiritual health". This is not a joke. Do you have any good sources which directly state that ...

Lama Yeshe Gyamtso - Webcast on Generation and Completion tomorrow continuing March 24, 10am-noon, 2-4pm

A little on Lama Yeshe: Lama Yeshe Gyamtso completed two three-year retreats during the 1980s at Kagyu Thubten Chöling under the guidance of Kyapje Kalu Rinpoche and Lama Norlha Rinpoche. He has since been teaching and translating for many great masters, including His Holiness the Seventeenth Karmap...

Re: A Non-Zen Koan For Vajrayana Students

Dharma is pure, but the way it's transmitted to samsaric beings understandably has samsaric issues. If you practice Dharma with Bodhichitta, with an attitude free of selfishness (or at least with the intention to rid yourself of selfishness) it's going to be of immense benefit. Even if whoever you r...

Re: Nyungne in Karma Kagyu

Hi I understand that Nyungne is done slightly differently in different traditions. In Karma Kagyu, do you do prostrations during the recitation of the 35 Buddhas portion or only during the Po Homage Prayer? Thank you. It's been a little while since I've done a Nyungne but I do remember doing a numb...

Re: Practices to Cultivate Positive Emotions Positive States of Minds

You could look into the brahmaviharas. They're the perfection of the best states of mind: lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy (joy at the success of others) and equanimity. If you read about these in the Words of My Perfect teacher, they're applied directly towards generating Bodhichitta.
