Re: The Unbearable Lightness of Anatman

But the cessation of, and the pursuit of the cessation of-affliction --> action --> suffering --> affliction- is meaningful, isn't it? Perhaps we're using the word "meaning" in different ways though. The Dharma is meaningful. Life isn't. Agreed :) But without life, Dharma would be meaningless....Dh...

Just because nothing is permanent it doesnt mean it has no value,
We are the meaning makers. Nature just want's to survive. Life is programed to proliferate.

The good thing about the Dharma is that it is not about niceties, rather it is about the truth. whatever it may be, I'm open to it.
What if the truth wasn't the truth ? How can there be truth with all concepts are false ?

Why question the "authenticity" of these people ? Aren't we all fake ?
Would you take one as your root guru?

he pursuit of the cessation of-affliction --> action --> suffering --> affliction- is meaningful, isn't it? Re: The Unbearable Lightness of Anatman

We have compassion for sentient beings because life is meaningless. There is no point to it at all. Yes...isn't it sad...this life, with all it's beauty...has equal ugliness.....why did it even have to happen ????? Yet..it happened....why conclude it's meaningless...instead of wondering if there's ...

Buddhas are omniscient but not omnipotent. Karma comes into play, otherwise they would enlighten all beings with the snap of a fingers.

Ok, but what attributes/powers, do deities and gods have ?

Why do they require such elaborate rituals to communicate our needs to them ?

I know what you mean. I always thought it looked a little strange. My teacher gave it to me...it's a HUGE thankga. Someone gave it to him. They found it in a antique shop somewhere. It would be interesting to know it's history... Perhaps to scare off demons and spirits? I would understand THAT. Yes...

I suppose I can't relate to the idea you brought up of not (HAVING) love to share with someone. I don't( HAVE) a frame of reference for that. I've been really, really pissed off at certain people, and/or hurt by them, but I've never felt empty of love to give. I don't want to (HAVE) the food. I wan...
