Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Is it okay to whisper song of vajra without melody and not according to the usual timings of the song, or would it be better if I did a different practice instead? My circumstances require me to be very quiet unfortunately. Thankyou Just use a different semdzin, there are many that don't require vo...

I missed the trid-lung. :( My stream started when the practice had already begun. Is this lung the same as the one Rinpoche gives at the end of retreats? I think I already have that, can I follow along for the rest of the days?
There are two lungs for Mandarava, the trid-lung and the tsa-lung.

Re: Translatorhood

I bet in 15-20 years computer translators will be better anyways.... :stirthepot: I personally would never rely on a tantra translated by a computer. From what I've been taught, the snga 'gyur were primarily translated by realized Dzogchen practitioners. I wouldn't personally rely on translations f...

Re: Translatorhood

To be honest there is no money in anything related to Buddhism. You'll be poor as a translator, Emchi, thangka painter, etc etc. I suggest ESL teacher because at least that will maintain your English knowledge which you'll need for translating, and everyone wants to learn English. You can work at ho...

Re: Importance of Memory in Dharma

I am having a lot of success memorizing paragraphs 4-5 words at a time through recall (cognitive scientists say on average we can only maintain 4-5 words in our short term memory). First I do 5 successful recall repetitions, then 5 recall repetitions including the last words/sentences (up to about 4...

Re: Dog thread

My dog is named Chevy. He's a border collie, Australian shepherd, and Brittany spaniel mix. I think he is 13, he is a little over weight, has a lot of warts on his face and head and body, sometimes he shakes like he has a minor seizure while standing, and he is very sensitive and smart.

How does one support themselves as a translator of Sanskrit/Tibetan?
Most likely as a professor.

I would suggest becoming an ESL teacher.

Those are temporary hells, but the hells realms do not, according to Mahāyāna thinking, have physical existence.
I don't understand.
Hell realms only exist in the mind.
I still don't understand. :broke:
