Re: What to do when someone feels drowned in numerous Bad Karmic Actions?
One of the demotivating things in my life is that I've done a lot of evil, and I will definitely have to face the consequences for that - is there any consolation in Buddhism on coming to terms with those consequences? Thanks. I hope these links solve your problems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka...

Hi Motova, "Let the teaching be your island and your refuge, with no other refuge." https://suttacentral.net/sn47.9/en/sujato Perhaps it's worth quoting a little more of the sutta: So Ānanda, be your own island, your own refuge, with no other refuge. Let the teaching be your island and yo...

Re: Are there any precedents that allow for 'developments' of Buddhism after the Buddha?
Are there any precedents from the Buddha himself from canon (preferably the Pali Canon) that show the Buddha expected his later followers to 'develop' various teachings beyond the ones he explicitly taught as recorded in the canon? I mean, are there statements or teachings of the Buddha that show h...

Do Empowerments Give Refuge, Precepts, and Bodhisattva Vows?
I have two main questions: 1. Do empowerments give refuge, precepts, and bodhisattva vows? Here are two of the answers I've received: Refuge is given at the beginning of every empowerment, so there is no reason to attend a refuge ceremony as a preliminary. Bodhicitta vows are given in every empowerm...

It is not so easy to request an empowerment yourself for an practice that you actually trust as a complete path to liberation ...

Re: The Ease of Receiving Empowerments
There is no risk. Without Vajrayana everyone is going to hell, it is only a matter of time. And it is not a chance of buddhahood, it is certainty, again a matter of time. That is if you actually accept what the Vajrayana has to say on the matter. Please provide a citation that. What about Hinayana ...

Re: The Ease of Receiving Empowerments
Apparently there is an equation at work. At some point it's worth risking a number of beings going to hell for the chance for someone to realize Buddhahood through Vajrayana. There is no risk. Without Vajrayana everyone is going to hell, it is only a matter of time. And it is not a chance of buddha...
