Re: Kim Peek

It is said in the Siksha Samuccaya we should not dispute. So I do not mean this in argumentative way. But I disagree. With love, -- In any case, on a less far-out level; yeah.... The traditional way is begging for food once a day, before noon. But that is wandering monk, now it's less of that style...

Re: Telekinesis and Sound

Is understanding sound intuitively the key to telekinesis? Thank you. I ask this because it is at the center of perception, emotion and thought it seems. Furthermore, for Dharma to work it is assumed everyone is telekinetic (controlling their body from a point near the heart). Also, sound goes thro...

I hadn't heard of her being adopted by the Gelukpas, but I don't doubt it.

If I recall correctly, there were Drikung monasteries in the east of Tibet that were forcibly converted to Gelug... but Achi remained too popular.

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

Rebirth could be an explanation for those cases, but there are other explanations which are equally plausible. For example, it’s well known (and I’ve seen it with young children and adults suffering from dementia) that people will create stories (memories) to explain what they can’t remember or oth...

Hello All, Is there a particular characteristic for the Drikung Kagyu Lamas and education? They have Drikung Phowa and Achi. Oh yeah! How could I forget about Achi!?? There are other lineages with Achi too (Karma Kagyu and probably others), but it's sort of a Drikung specialty. She was Jigten Sumgo...

In the Mahayana the five Vidya-sthanas or Branches of learning, which belong to the Perfection of Virya or Energy, are: Buddhist philosophy, logic or dialectics, grammar, medicine, technical arts and crafts. This is told in Har Dayal's Bodhisattva Doctrine in Buddhist Sanskrit Literature . A link t...

Re: The Importance of Studying the Arts/Sciences While Studying Dharma

What are blue collared Buddhists missing out on? Thank you. The five major sciences (Tib. རིག་གནས་ཆེན་པོ་ལྔ་, rigné chenpo nga; Wyl. rig gnas chen po lnga) are part of the ten sciences or traditional fields of knowledge in which a learned person is supposed to be well versed.
