Re: Morality of stockholding

True, we should look after the environment. That's a good point. I agree. Also, since Buddhism is about individuals, individuals who experience sufferings, so by protecting a balanced healthy state of our environment we can help all of those individuals around. This allows us also to accumulate mer...

Re: Morality of stockholding

According to buddhist morality: "A lay follower should not engage in five types of business. Which five? Business in weapons, business in human beings, business in meat, business in intoxicants, and business in poison." — AN 5.177 There's nothing about gas or oil. It's here: business in poison It c...

Re: Importance of Memory in Dharma

How important is memory in practicing Dharma? What did the Buddha say about memory? Do you have any tricks to develop a good memory? Fundamentally, one should keep the three humours balanced. One can apply certain herbs and remedies and so on if one needs to. A person should see a doctor of Tibetan...

It's worth knowing that the Buddhist term which has come to be translated as 'mindfulness', i.e. 'smṛti' or 'dran pa' in Tibetan, basically means remembering or memory.
It denotes a kind of keeping in mind, so it can help you be aware of a present phenomena, or recall something, etc.

Re: Dzogchen and Mahamudra main differences

To say I am no scholar ( in things Buddhadharma) is an understatement. One thing I can tell you which may or may not be pertinent is that my first teacher taught Mahamudra to anyone who asked for it, but Dzogchen to only a very few. Now that was then and if he was around bodily today his position m...

No, we are not.
The most that you can say is that we are not two.
I think you are confusing Vedanta with Buddhadharma.

All arises dependant on everything else. And all is a constant state of change.

There is no 'one'. There is no thing to be 'one'.
Wonderful explanation Simon.
