Re: Shouldn't this subforum have restricted access?

This has been discussed a number of times. The fact is that people are going to talk about Dzogchen on the internet anyway. There are many places for them to do so. It is better for them to have a place like this that is well-moderated (probably better moderated than other forums where people discu...

Re: Is Nichiren Shu the most traditional of all the Nichiren sects?

is Nichiren the True Buddha of our age? Well, that would depend on who you ask. If you ask Nichiren Shoshu or SGI they would say yes. Actually I'm not sure they would say yes. Hello all! :hi: The reason why I came her is a bit special: A lot of our teachings here in Berlin are no longer translated to German. The behavior of Harvey Wienstein, etc., and Osel Mukpo, Sogyal, Trungpa, Joshu Sasaki, Eido Shimano, etc., was aided and abetted at all levels by people who depended upon them for power, money, or status, or all three. Re: Independent investigation confirms “physical, sexual, emotional abuse” by Sogyal Rinpoche

Everyone (or every adult) in his commune knew he was a teacher. It was a de facto attempt to create an enlightened society because Changchub Dorje was trying to help everyone attain enlightenment (acknowledging that the language presents a barrier here). I had thought that basically everyone there ...

Re: Can Nichiren Buddhists chant "Om mani padme hum" to the Gohonzon?

Right. It's interesting how little Avalokitesvara figures in Nichiren Buddhism. Does Nichiren ever mention him/her at all? In Nichiren Shu, chapter 25 is sometimes recited, but the practice of actually calling on Avalokitesvara is non-existent. Nichiren seemed to emphasize the eternal Buddha Shakya...

Re: Can Nichiren Buddhists chant "Om mani padme hum" to the Gohonzon?

Calling on Avalokitesvara is an ancillary practice based on Avalokitesvara's vow to protect those who uphold the Lotus. So, its not considered the same, especially in Nichiren schools. Right.
