Re: Empowerment and Samaya with H.E. Garchen Rinpoche

I appreciate the replies. I figure this will all work out the way it will without me needing to have my projected concerns tended to. Yup. Pretty much it. I mean ... sometimes it is better to realy observe oneself than others. You will see that maybe your reason for "keeping your friend away from h...

Re: Animal Activist: Let Mosquitoes Bite You As They Are "Mothers" Trying To Feed Their Babies

Every time you eat a vegetable or piece of fruit you kill myriad sentient beings. No, not just bacteria or yeasts. The generally accepted definition of sentience is that characterises an organism which shows aversion to painful stimuli. By that criterion nematodes, which reproduce sexually rather t...

Sogyal Rinpoche: As I Remember I was deeply saddened to hear the news of passing away of Sogyal Rinpoche this afternoon, 28th August 2019. I knew him from childhood and he remained a friend to me all his life. I first met him when he was studying in Dr. Graham’s Home School in Kalimpong. Every weeke...

Re: Pausing sadhanas

We are supposed to be meditating on the meaning of the words as we are chanting them in Vajrayana meditation, so yes it's good .. This is one reason in some practices there is a slow placed melody, when one can chant and simultaneously match the words of the text with our mental practice, it is more...

Re: Taking Apart Ngondro

While there is no hard fast rule that one absolutely CAN NOT, focus on the sections that one wants to .. With that being said, there is an actual purpose and wisdom behind the masters presenting the Ngondro in the order that it is given .. Each section has a specific purpose and these purposes are c...

Re: Anil Thapa now a Vajrayana teacher?

No, he is not.

He is a thangka painter.

However, if you want to learn how to play the Damaru while playing a wooden flute at the same time which he does, go for it.

Re: What would you buy?

If you do not yet have an Image or a statue of the Buddha, I would invest one, in order to have a simple shrine at home, and somewhere to express ones devotion and to accumulate merit. Having a good mala is essential too, but to get an authentic and quality Bodhi-seed mala is not cheap anymore, so y...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

The last actual Vajrayana teacher who was an active member left this forum on 20th.January this year. I am happy to read opinions but that’s all they are. And that applies to mine equally. Just folk shootin’ the breeze. Not everyone who is a Vajrayana teacher needs to parade it. Lama Pema is a qual...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

I have just noticed this reference to ChNN. What it doesn’t mention is that ChNN went on to say on more then one occasion that he himself, one of the greatest masters of the age, could not do it. Let’s get real here. & your point is what? It doesn’t matter. I am just a commoner. Well, there are two ...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

It was intended as a joke, but since you made it personal: I don't know, maybe it's the preoccupation and implication that people who care less about this subject are somehow missing some major thing, the constant "you're not Buddhist enough" towards people with a less orthodox stance on a speciali...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

I think you and a number of other respondents on this thread are throwing out the baby with the bathwater. What I’m saying is not dissimilar to what Padampa Sangye said in the exchange that gave his tradition its name Keep in mind, this very same Padampa Sangye, lived, breathed, and taught, in a bo...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

Cool, you and Pema let me know when you develop them. You can act as an inspiration for all of us;) It seems your post was meant to be Sarcastic. In any case, it's not anything particular to me or Lama Pema, as we have stated clearly here, supplication for Siddhis is something that Vajrayana practi...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

Sure, someone having Siddhis does not necessarily mean they have realization, However .. if someone is fully realized they 'will' have Siddhis as a matter of course. For all those claiming it has little to do with the Buddhist goal and the Buddha's concern, let's not forget that the Buddha himself ...

Re: Reincarnation of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama

And just continuing on this point a bit. If there was not a correct and an incorrect way to interpret the Dharma, then the whole notion of an extensive training for a Dharma teacher would be redundant. Since everyone is just going to interpret things how they want to. Why do you think Khenpo's are r...

Re: Reincarnation of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama

I think in these kind of conversations about such sensitive and profound topics, like the role of the Guru, I tend to here a lot of, in my opinion, I think this, in my view .. I think we should do less of this , and base our understanding directly on the teachings of these Great teachers who have p...
