Re: Garchen Rinpoche's affiliation

Major Tulkus will have responsibility for upholding monastic seats, feeding monks, collecting money to support the inafastructures that are built around their name. Lama Garchen besides being a lord of refuge also holds and passes on the Drikung lineage, and has monasteries to uphold.. He is playing...

Re: Do any of you use social media to spread Dharma?

I have recently started to use Instagram for Dharma things. I try to post only Dharma related images and art. I don't think spreading dharma needs to be approached in a preachy or proselytizing way. We also do not need to spread "teachings" to people, as in we do not need to "teach" people things. P...

Re: Retreat Centers

An option would be, and this is if it is ones wish, to enter retreat. Most dharma centers with retreat housing options would be happy to take your money on a long term monthly basis. Also many centers will have retreat housing that is much less than renting an apartment, paying a home loan, etc. You...

Re: Barche Lamsel

Just to add a few cents...

I asked Garchen Rinpoche for the Lung of Barche Kunsel. He said the Six Vajra Lines are like the essence of the Barche Kunsel and Sampa Luhndrup.

It is short and sweet. So there is that also.

Re: Empowerment needed for tummo?

One could also receive the oral instructions on tummo from Lama Garchen Rinpoche in the form of Om Ah Hum / Vajra Recitation he openly gives at almost every teaching, be it in person or webcast. At times this is conjunct with an empowerment and at other times it is just a subject he his speaking on....

Re: Retreats in tb

Daily Life vs. Retreat is what this thread should be retitled as. Its not so polarized really is it? It seem more like a matter of time / familiarization. If you spend a year, or three, or nine in a more isolated retreat setting you simply have the possibility of (add descriptive here..... absorb, f...

Re: Retreats in tb

I have some pieces of information of meditation retreats in Tibetan buddhism and was hoping if someone could enlighten me about it. Some are said to do so called box retreats, sitting upright up to 20 hours a day. On a typical long term closed retreat schedule one will practice in four sessions a d...

Last year I spoke with a shangpa lama im California who said "without doing a few nyungnye retreats then not much benefit of practicing higher teachings." Also curious if others here encountrred any practice in the Tibetan tradition that is really pure kriyatantra? I have personally never come acros...

Re: Dzogchen and Mahamudra: differences and similarities

Greetings, Malcolm wrote: Sakya Pandita asserts in the Muni's Intent that that Dzogchen is the name of the result of the nine Yānas of the Nyingma school, Mahāmudra is the name of the result of the new tantras. ChNN agrees with Sakya Pandita's perspective on this, so when he states that the result o...

Dear Zoom, To go back to your opening post: "T he first time, I felt the heat arise only in my arms, but the second time, the heat was appearing inside my whole body. The sensation of heat was pretty strong and clear, but disappeared immedeately when I moved my body a little bit. Obviously the sensa...

Reversal vs. Purification

Re: Yantra Yoga compared to...

I understand it to be prep for completion stage practices in Kagyu, and done privately in a closed area. Is it customary to teach it that early and openly in Dzogchen? Bairo Trulkhor does not require a creation stage, though at one time it may have been associated with Śrī Heruka (aka Yang dag) sin...

Re: Yantra Yoga compared to...

I'm not too familiar with CNNR's system, other than a few videos I've seen, but in general are there the sorts of "Bebs" (forceful drops) found in Six Yogas Trulkhor in the Yantra systems, or in Dzogchen systems in general? There is a whole series in YY where beps are the ending movement of a seque...

Re: Yantra Yoga compared to...

There is an obvious parallel to modern transnational yoga's asanas in YY, which indicates to me that YY is not trulkhor in the traditional sense. When you say you were exposed to other trulkhor systems, do you mean like on YouTube? The Lamdre Yantra system also has a system of 32 asanas that greatl...
