Re: Do you experience increased openness to others being taken as romantic interest? How do you handle it?

Basicly, what other people think, say or do is their issue, not mine. Expressing, I'm not interested - in the intensity as they expressed their interest - is enough. I have to bother about my own behavior instead. This is my experience with any social trouble and concerns. And it helps me a lot. But...

Karma depends on the motivation. Calling somebody's name is an empty thing so far. The connotation creates the color of good, bad or neutral.

Re: Moderation, bias, etc.

I perceive alt-right people - everywhere - whining about how they were not free to say the the things they want to say. But actually, they cannot stand that opponents call out their speech as misanthropic, unfair and dangerous. One could laugh about this twisting of facts, if it wasn't so demagogic ...

Re: Was karmamudra part of ganachakra in the ancient India?

This is one of many reasons why karmamudra is a very advanced and secret practice. It's not being performed by many. It's a last step on the path. I always wonder why this topic is so very attractive online, because these discussions are like if blind people are discussing colors. Well I don’t even...

Edging is pretty bad, it seems (it messes with your dopamine in a big way). See here for some information on as to how: https://youtube.com/results?sp=mAEA&search_query=How+Edging+is+harmful And there are differing opinions there^ too of course. On the other hand (no pun), losing Ojas from too ...

Re: Why are DharmaWheel and DhammaWheel separated?

I had no idea Vajrayana and Vajrayanists was a hated group by (some people from) other traditions. That is crazy. It's only due to a couple of misunderstandings, e. g. the idea that the palicanon is the first and only authentic buddhist source and the only direct word of the Buddha himself. Other M...

Re: Wrathful "Mahakala" with Phurba and Kapala?

As per the comments, does anyone have an image of Palyul protector Tsog Dag that is for sure accurately that protector without question, and/or any further info about Tsog Dag Thanks At DW, reviving old topics is frowned at, because it leads to confusion when people overlook that they are answering...

Re: Why are DharmaWheel and DhammaWheel separated?

I understand that one is for Theravada and the other one is for Mahayana (including Vajrayana), that is clear to me. But why not have them as part of one forum, just separated into the sub-forums like here is done with Mahayana, East-asian buddhism, etc? Is it because some people from these 2 group...

Re: Favourite Sports

Other: Ice figure scating and snooker. What is snooker? The game I know as snooker is like a more complicated version of pool, played on a full-size billiard table with 15 red balls worth one point each, half a dozen 'colour' balls which are worth more, and a white cue ball. I played it a fair bit ...

Re: Is it Beneficial to Use Dharma Names in Daily Life?

I read somewhere here at DW that it is beneficial to call pets by Dharma names. In the case of human beings - in my opinion - it depends on the circumstances and people. If it's accepted by the people, if they even call you by the Dharma name with a positive attitude, I believe that would be very be...

Re: POLL: What type of mango-practitioner are you (as per "Letter to a friend" verse 20)?

One aspect is still not mentioned in this thread:

"Appearing ripe/unripe' to WHOM?
How I appear, often tells more about the perceiver than about myself. As long as I'm not obviously contravening ethical codes, people judge my appearance according to their expectations.

Re: Free books (officially) from Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

Maybe it needs to be mentioned that donations are welcome. In the West, the system of financial support for Dharmacenters is often being misunderstood as "You don't have to pay anything."

Re: How do we know what our individual dharma is in the modern age?

" It is better to do one’s own dharma, even though imperfectly, than to do another’s dharma, even though perfectly. By doing one’s innate duties, a person does not incur sin." I love this quote, but it's hard for me to understand exactly what my dharma is since the world is different now ...

Re: Poll (ANONYMOUS): Are you Male / Female / Other?

I have heard, that a higher female interest than male, is one of the sings of the Degenerate Age of Dharma. Does anyone have more information about this? I believe, it was written somewhere in the Palicanon that the Buddha said so. One of those weird quotes, I think, which make no sense without con...

Re: Poll idea - male / female / other

Due to their negative experiences, women just like to appear as neutral. Yeah I can imagine why. But I actually did not know that the poll would reveal their identities. I do not have experience with polls here, but my assumption was that it would take their votes, not also reveal who voted what (I...

Re: Poll idea - male / female / other

I think, it's no problem at all to just start such a topic in the Lounge. People could be surprised about the answers, because the idea is common, everybody was male. We simply still live in a man's world and this is tainting our perception and our assumptions. On the other hand, the poll most proba...

Re: My family worries that some Zen Buddhism feels like a “cult”

And the advantage of non-cult buddhism is: you don't have to proselytize like e. g. a Christian. You can really focus on yourself and your practice without bothering your family with it. There's nothing to promote outside. There's nothing to avoid except anger and selfishness. Nobody scolds you for ...
