Re: Trump's Movement to Unilateralism

I hope Trump will be stopped soon - such people often stumble upon their own feet. The sooner they fall the less people they can harm.

Re: Trump's Movement to Unilateralism

The American empire has been in decline for a while... Trump is a symptom, not a sudden cause. Trumps fans are indeed misinformed, IMO so are 90% of self described liberals who live their own bubble these days, one which involves distinctly ignoring some of the reasons for Trump's success, and simp...

Action has a result. Because everything is empty it is arising dependently.

Re: Trump's Movement to Unilateralism

The tragedy is that the Trump fans feel save in their bubble of misinformation. Nobody can reach them.

Happy Saka Dawa 2018, May 29

'The full moon day of Saka Dawa commemorates Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana. As cited by Lama Zopa Rinpoche in the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic, virtuous actions done on this day are multiplied one hundred million times. Practices specifically recommended by Rin...

Re: Help me get over my jealousy

For me the best way to lose jealousy was to let go. I do not own that man and I cannot rule about his emotions.
We're lonley and free. Best we can do is being a friend.

Re: Burning Dharma Materials

No temple, no burner. And vajrayana texts cannot be just randomly be left on literature tables anyway. I guess I'll end up burning them and contributing to both greenhouse gases and worsening the asthma hazards in my home town. You can cook some potatoes in the fire - but this needs some tin...

Anyhow, I think it's possible to reach pure land like this. But: will Greg and Steve enjoy it without booze and marihuana?

Re: Should a mother who is emotionally neglectful and indifferent be honored on Mother's day?

So my mother has just never really been there for me throughout my life in the way that I needed her to be. She has always been indifferent and distant and also abusive and/or allowed my step father to abuse me. Yet, she wonders why I haven't seen her in over 15 years. She doesn't want to talk abou...

Re: Do we loose our identity when we die?

No, I was taught: the mind ceases short time after the body died. There is no mind surviving. Nor any identity. What about the alaya-vijnana? All schools of T.B accept that. Would you define alaya-vijnana as 'mind'? I thought of mind as the place where thoughts and emotions happen and from ...

You can try an image-reverse-search. The information about who posted the image firstly on the internet might be helpful. Or maybe it even shows a wikipedia article.

Re: Is punishment of children required?

Couldn't agree more, Jeff H. This is samsara. Actually we do not rear the children by our plans and intention merely. They learn a great amount from our unconscious attitude. Adults cannot really hide any emotion from their kids. Therefore adults have to learn to be honest to themselves. This preven...
