Re: DNA TESTS

... I just wondered if others have had the test done and what it means to them. I had no DNA test, but my brother did some ancestor's research. This is possible in Sweden, because they wrote down births, marriages and deaths since about 1500. So, this was only the research from my father's side, bu...

I think, I didn't really get your question, but maybe Thangkha painting is the kind of practical approach you're looking for?

Re: The origin of the most commonly distributed images

You can try an image-reverse-search. The information about who posted the image firstly on the internet might be helpful. Or maybe it even shows a wikipedia article.

Re: Is punishment of children required?

Couldn't agree more, Jeff H. This is samsara. Actually we do not rear the children by our plans and intention merely. They learn a great amount from our unconscious attitude. Adults cannot really hide any emotion from their kids. Therefore adults have to learn to be honest to themselves. This preven...

Re: Is punishment of children required?

Yes, I also agree with JD - and as Punya wrote: punishment is not discipline. Children need borders, lines that cannot be crossed. But they do not need punishment. To understand consequences is enough. E.g.: "You cannot cross this street, because I'll hold you and because a car could kill you accide...

Maybe the other way round it makes sense:
Tibetan Buddhism is not only Vajrayana.

We have this Sahara sand since decades every now and then. Seems you have described my day-to-day mental state. I have high sensitivity syndrome. I find the page on facebook helpful: "zart besaited" : https://www.facebook.com/zart.besaitet.fb Once they published a test and had some more articles exp...

Re: Intimate relationships -the "other", no self, and practice

... How do you address the HOW-TO, when you have a major difference with your spouse, or even betrayal, or your kids defy your values, or you need to work daily with people who don't share your vision of impermanence, any infinity variations of very complex daily situations in which we don't have t...

Re: student-master relationship in Vajrayana

It has been only my personal observation, and my own personal experience (so I cannot say this is something absolute) It is different for each student and teacher situation, and that sometimes there is a very strong connection, some very deep energy, if you want to call it that, maybe a lot of time...

Re: Backyard Gardening

Paint or other finishes serve as both decoration and protection for wood. Most wood needs some protection if it's going to be constantly in contact with dirt, as the inside and bottom of the raised bed will be. Protection from rain, wind and sun is less important but will extend its life. Paint or ...

Re: "Wild Wild Country" - Osho documentary on Netflix

The Rajneesh people I knew did not indulge in any drugs and intoxication. A healthy life was their religion.

But they advertised for alcohol with the slogan: "Champagne is vegetarian!"

Re: Backyard Gardening

Aaah, raised beds. Hochbeete. A new vocabulary.

It looks very nicely like zen style.
But painted wood can't stand the weather. It will look very different next year.
So, it's not worth it. i assume.
I think brown wood looks better, if you know it's healthy.

I just canceled my work, because I'm not physically fit. We have no spring yet. But it will start soon. Gardening is a very good means for to become grounded. Soil is an intelligent organism. Re: Solo Retreat

I had a 10 day's solo retreat in a hut on a Dharma property. It was more intense than group retreat for me. Camping would be no option for me, because I think nature is able to keep us busy all the time (cooking, moskitos, equipement, too hot/too cold ... etc). My aim in that retreat was to deepen m...
