Re: Quote of my day

My favorite quote was for some decades:

Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved.
This idea was a good helper through many crazy times. :sage:

It's worse: he is not a politician and at the same time trying to do a politician's work...
This is the real problem. He doesn't know anything about politics.

Re: Full Moon

Rosemary and thyme freezes to death every very cold winter here. They cannot stand temeratures lower than -4°C. Really? It freezes here too, but the Rosemary and Thyme survives. Maybe because the freeze does not last so long? Ours survived well below -10 with the Beast from the East last winter and...

I have noted an excessive amount of odd behaviour here and also at home. But the UK is also experiencing massively high temperatures - 30 degrees! lol :) Either this full moon has had a strong effect on those I interact with........or it is me being affected.....or both! Is this particular full moo...

Re: How to NOT annoy the guru?

You should read more. There are plenty of Buddhist tantras giving spells and advice how to curse, kill etc. Of course, successful application presumes you are indeed a practitioner of the tantric vehicle. Which presumes you have the right view as well as samayas. ' Enemies' of the doctrine are not ...

Re: How to NOT annoy the guru?

I never saw my guru being annoyed due to lack of time. He get's annoyed slightly when the question reveals that the questioner has not understood anything of what he was teaching for months. Or he also seems to be discontent as soon as I'm too fond of myself. He dislikes arrogance and superiority co...

It is difficult to understand that they are considered to be criminal. If you simply try to protect your children and you don't harm anybody, why are you a criminal then? Those illegal immegrants thought to flee an insecure country and reach a secure country. They obviously didn't know that there is...

Re: Help me with a difficult family conversation.

When I was vegetarian for 13 years, I learned to avoid these kinds of conversations. People got upset quickly when I explained why I did not eat meat. They responded: "But you should not drink coffee then!" Or "You still eat chocolate!!!" I learned, not to explain anything to people who would feel u...

Ah, sory then.
In Germany they only talked about the G7 mess and the substanceless meeting with Kim Yong Un. We do not hear anything about the health insurance mess and nothing at all about this cruelty at the border.

Right now there is nothing but soccer WC broadcasting day and night.

Re: My new neighbor

I recommend earplugs and dark sunglasses. Maybe you can invite some friends to your cottage as well? I don't think the earplugs or dark glasses would really help. If I had some friends it would be good though, to kind of go through this experience with me. Thanks for the suggestions. Why is this su...

.... However, maybe since you have Gelug background you could tell us here more how it works as I believe Gelug has probably most focus on monastics. All I know: it's difficult. People try to sort out financial sponsors before they ordain. Some have spared money from good jobs in their former life ...

Also do you agree that in the west there should be created an ordained community of westerners?
No, ordained should not seperate due to nationality. But desperately a system of financial support for western monks and nuns is needed.
