Re: Guru Rinpoche image
Thanks for both of your responses. I had a vague idea that the image was based on the "looks like me" image - but wasn't sure. I'm particularly interested as quite unexpectedly my 10 year old son has just requested a guru rinpoche statue - we googled tons of images and this was the one he ...

Guru Rinpoche image
I have a question about this image of Guru Rinpoche. Does anyone know anything about it? Where it came from? Whether it was a terma? From whom?
Happy for any info.
Thanks

This is a beautiful post. I haven't really posted much on Dharma wheel and not sure if our paths crossed on E-Sangha, but I'm really happy to read your posts, your genuineness and passion shines through.

Re: Lazy people should just give up, right?
In response the the question, why might Tara appear to some people and not to others, or have one effect on some people and not others. Maybe reading the story of Asanga could help.

Re: Lazy people should just give up, right?
HI Padma Norbu, I hear what you're saying - there are so many different approaches and different uses of terminology depending on the master, the book etc. For this reasons it's useful to find one master you really connect with and follow their teachings and rely on their explanations and study the ...

Re: Lazy people should just give up, right?
Seeing everything as the mandala and hearing everything as mantra. Perhaps we take this too literally. Perhaps it doesn't mean that we hear everything as "om mani peme hung" and see sambohkakaya realms wherever we look. Dudjom Rinpoche famously said, "leave the seeing in the seeing, l...

Haven't read the many pages but in a nutshell - No, lazy people should not just give up, that sort of thinking is only ego thinking.

Guru Rinpoche all that matters
All the Matter in the World by Padmasambhava All the matter of the world, living and not living, Appear as objects to my eyes. Let me rest in the appearance of things, without seeing them as things. Empty clarity without fixation is the deity form. I pray to my guru — naturally releasing empty appea...

Prayer request
Dear fellow practitioners, As well as praying for all sentient beings, if you can possibly remember this person in your practice I would be really grateful. My oldest, best friend in the world found out that her husband (also a childhood friend) has stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma. Russell started int...

Hi again
Hi - I used to post quite a lot on E Sangha and recognize many names from there here. For some reason I haven't looked at this site in a long time - but am happy to have re-discovered it.
Very best wishes

Re: a very unusual visiting lama
Prostrations are not just a cultural thing - if you've received in depth teachings on the preliminaries, it's quite clear that prostrations are an antidote to a particular poison (and one which is fairly prevalent in the West) that of pride and arrogance. I can understand if people brand new to the ...
