Re: Lama Tsultrim Allione & Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche

Perhaps there are others out there like me who have interest in one or both teachers who desire to be informed so that they can make up their own minds. If the teachers didn't want news of their conflict spreading, perhaps they should've avoided the conflict in the first place. Personally, in light ...

Re: Lama Tsultrim Allione & Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche

Yes, because it didn't occur to me to ask him. C'mon, folks. If you can't answer my question, why bother responding just to state the obvious? And no, i don't have a particular connection to Gangteng Rinpoche specifically. However, there is a certain amount of the Peling terma in Drikung from what i...

Re: Lama Tsultrim Allione & Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche

He's a student of Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche. He didn't give a source, so it may have been firsthand. Don't you think if i had a source i would provide it here? That was the whole reason for the thread: to ask for source material on this...

Re: Lama Tsultrim Allione & Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche

My Inji friend Pema who lives in India. He's a student of Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche. Asked me not to share Tara Mandala stuff with him on FB when i messaged him about the recent FYD Pilot Study vid, and when i asked why not he told me.

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

I'm quite taken aback by the Sutra referring to Matangi's daughter as an impure "artifice," as if she's an object and not a being with buddha-nature, but the rest seems to be alright to me.

Lama Tsultrim Allione & Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche

Has anyone else heard that these two had a falling out? Can anyone point me to resources that say why if it is true? Not interested in maligning anyone, just want to have all the facts. As I've said before, I've been considering doing work-study or applying for a job out there at Tara Mandala, so i ...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

It occurs to me that not only could Matongha and Matangipa be different figures not to be conflated, but that the opposite may well be true. I think it's safe to say that even hagiographies of great masters have been subject to patriarchal bias, so perhaps Matangipa was really a dakini but those wh...

Re: Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche - online seminar on the "Union of Dzogchen & Mahamudra"

Anyone know if the first 3 days are still up on Facebook as videos? That's what i get for not checking DW for a few days. Just saw this now... I can access them, so certainly available to those who have registered. Specifically asking about videos being on Facebook because I'm not registered on Dha...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

Apparently Taranatha's History of Buddhism in India has a couple references to Matangipa as well. Gonna look thru my electronic copy and post relevant quotes here. Screenshot_2018-08-10-07-31-27.png It occurs to me that not only could Matongha and Matangipa be different figures not to be conflated, ...

Re: german prosecution office investigates Ole Nydahl for incitement to hatred

Tibetan Muslims lived in relative harmony in Tibet as a minority culture. And let's just disabuse you of the notion that "all Muslims are bad people" right now. Would you appreciate it if anyone made a sweeping generalization about everyone who was your ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religio...

Re: Tilopa and Matangi

Might be the Matang(g)ipa (Wyl. ma tang+gi pa ) in the Mar-Ngok Hevajra lineage prayers, where it's implied that he bestowed Hevajra upon Tilopa. According to Thurman, there's also a Mantanggi who was a thief before meeting Nagarjuna. I believe it's from his Jewel Tree of Tibet . Could be the same f...

So i revive this thread to ask a specific question, and instead of responding it immediately gets sidetracked into Kama Phurba lineages?

Re: Garchen giving Ratna Lingpa's Vajrakilaya

This sadhana is also available at Vimala Treasures and is called " The Daily Practice of the Secret Attainment of the Unsurpassed Extremely Secret Vajrakilaya" . A corresponding commentary by Khenpo Namdrol is also available at Shamabhala, called "The Practice of Vajrakilaya " and is mostly related...

Re: Short sadhanas

The Chenrezig practice from Thangtong Gyalpo, DroDen KaKhyabma, is very short if you stick to the original sadhana and leave off amended prayers, etc. It is quite effective, IMO, as a daily practice. The book "Chenrezig: Lord of Love" has the complete sadhana along with commentary and instructions,...

Re: How to Make Long-Life Prayer More Effective?

As for lamas having mastery over death and the death process being "ridiculous," Virgo, you might wanna study more before taking that stance. There's ample evidence that realized masters like the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa demonstrate this level of accomplishment. Even his medical doctor and nurses marv...
