Re: Bardo of Dying

Okay, thank you. I think that makes sense then that it would start before you would technically be pronounced dead. I know that in the teachings on the Bardo of Dying they talk about the dissolution of the five senses and I guess then that that starts at the very end of one's life (when the irrevers...

Bardo of Dying

Hello,

I am unsure of when the bardo of dying starts. Does it start after someone has taken their last breath and would technically be pronounced dead or does it start like say if someone were in a hospice and only had a few days to live would it start around that time?

Thank you.

Re: Buddha and Non-Dual Means

Like Buddha taught having the conventional and ultimate aspect of reality in one act of cognition.

Or something like when King Ja received the Statue of Vajrapani he meditated on its form and emptiness appearance but that this was something that had already been taught by the Buddha.

Re: Best Books on Shamata

Tsongkhapa's Lam Rim Volume Three is also pretty good. Gives a technical presentation of Shamatha as to how it is usually presented within the Tibetan Tradition.

Re: Is Vajrayana really the fastest path?

I think Vajrayana is the faststest because tantra has a unique way of having the conventional and ultimate aspects of truth in one consciousness and with that desire is used on the path as a more expedient means of realizing emptiness.

Re: Red White Bodhicitta

Is White Bodhicitta nectar? I know in Indian Yogic tradition the Sahaswara or Bindu Chakra (not sure which one) produces nectar and they even have a practice using Kechari Mudra to gather the nectar before it burns up in the Manipuri Chakra. It seems almost equivalent in the Tibetan tradition with W...

Re: Why is Amitabha absent in American Zen and TB?

Maybe because Americans are used to having such a big continent of land to work with they may be biased towards just having their own pureland instead of using some else's

There's a lot of individuality in America perhaps the community effect suffers.

Re: Why Mudras?

Could you say that practicing Mudras in Tantra creates the causes to use Mudras from an enlightened state? Almost like an attainment where maybe based on some kind of intuition from your form body manifest different Mudras for the benefit of others?
