I'm just seeking advise here from a Nichiren Buddhist perspective.
First of all, I'm worried about your safety. Are you being physically abused? Mentally?
Please let me know asap, I care.

Re: Re : Guidance on karma and domestic abuse

You've been around for a while. Maybe almost as long as I. I remember those days with mixed feelings. I totally agree with you on the near-automatic response : "It's your karma, you have to change it" and "oh your life fell apart? congratulations." I had a lot of district leaders and group leaders g...

Re: Is NMRK the definitive Buddhist path?

That was my understanding, too. I was surprised to see that this observation was rejected in another thread, so I thought I'd crowdsource some wisdom on it. Thanks. What other practices would be involved viz. NMRK apart from chanting? I recognize this may be a stupid question, but I'm trying to com...

Re: Is NMRK the definitive Buddhist path?

I'll dispense with the turf wars and cut to the original question from DGA. The answer is yes. Let's look at what the Daishonin himself had to say about this : If you wish to free yourself from the sufferings of birth and death you have endured since time without beginning and to attain without fail...

Re : Guidance on karma and domestic abuse

I decided to give this issue its own thread : When I was a new member, the guy I took as my mentor once observed that a lot of the guidance he got from his mentor seemed more like Japanese cultural tradition talking than Buddhism. I was so young in faith that I had never considered this, but my ment...

Re: Why are SGI meetings necessary?

I don't find anything wrong with your comments about feeling put off by your experience at your local district meeting. One of my members once moved about 30 miles away and had a similar experience; she just couldn't relate to the members in her district and didn't find them to be all that supportiv...

Re: Why are SGI meetings necessary?

Actually, SGI doctrine (and it used to emphasized more, is that is very very difficult to practice correctly on one's own, if not impossible. Especially if you're new, the interaction with others and having seniors to ask questions of is essential. Yes, most (if not all, I imagine, depending on the ...

"Ignorance is lack of knowledge, so it is not actually something to lose. Rather, one needs to gain knowledge to, figuratively speaking, lose ignorance"
