Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

Its difficult to unify Sukhavati idea with big bang and so on. If we accept that Sukahavati is real, that means (for me) that it is in other dimension, out of this physical Universe.

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

I think that altought Sukhavati cannot be reached be physical means, that doesnt mean that Sukhavati is not real or less "physical" than our reality. Its a question of karma, I mean its a question of having the lucid and peaceful qualities that will lead you to reborn in a place that really exists, ...

Pure Land - Some Doubts and Weak Faith

Sometimes my faith is weak and I have doubts of Pure Land teachings...are they real? Buddha did not teach such things. Others did. Its easy to imagine somewhere (some centurys ago), an abbot or a monk, seeing people lacking in faith, decide to create the Pure Land teachings. And thats it, we have th...

Both are bad, but in the case of Sogyal, if it is true the sexual abuse, then thats even worst than anything else.

Re: Sogyal Rinpoche - sexual abuse against women?

It find it very sad, and angering to be totally honest.. I mean, nobody is perfect. I would also give some leeway to lay teachers, but this is not a lay-teacher, but rather a vajra master whose students place the absolute trust of the Buddha in. It would literally be like being betrayed by the Budd...

Sogyal Rinpoche - sexual abuse against women?

I read the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and I loved it. Sogyal Rinpoche looked like a great master. Unfortunatly, it seems that he is not that good. At least his morality and ethical seems to be faulty, since he was accused of sexual abuse. If that is true, then everything he said may be put in ...

Little children with rare leukemia

This is a portuguese case of a little and beautiful baby with 1 year, Maria, that is fighting against a very rare type of leukemia. Please, pray for her with devotation and strenght, pray for Medicine Buddha or who ever may help her. Research on psi shows that distant healing is real, the intention ...

Re: Qigong and Buddhism

Thanks for the information, of both you :)

And by the way, my objective is not spiritual, like buddhism, I just want to to free some energy, to let it flow a little better and improve some health.

Qigong and Buddhism

I am curious about Qigong. So, maybe this is not the best forum or subforum for the questions, anyway, here goes:

1) What books would you advise me learn some basics on Qigong?

2) How does Qigong relate to Buddhism?

Thanks

Deep Breath in Buddhism

I found a book where the author says that deep breath is not good for health (may cause hyperventilation, hypocapnia, over use of upperchest muscles, and over stimulation of the sympathetic system). I tought that sometimes, in Buddhism, it is given attention to the way we breath: fast breath may not...

Re: Demonic Possession in Buddhism

Thanks for your answers Kirtu (and all of you so far!). Kirtu, speaking on dreams & Vajrasattva, once I had a strange dream where I saw a manifestation of him/her in a female form. I was in a forest and he (or she in my case) was a old woman, very wise, but with a angry face (now that I think, perha...

Great posts!! Very inspiring! Monlan, and others, about the Questions & Answer (first post from Monlan on this topic): Question As soon as I put the chains on the monkey [of my restless mind], I gradually sink into a torpor.
