Re: Asa HershoffS Vajrayana "Inside Scoop"

This Tsewong Rinpoche was revealed to have lied, too. I think he was from Bhutan and it came out that he was considered a fake Lama there or something. I spent time with Tsewang Rinpoche (and Lama Jinpa). Some teachers of mine have denounced Rinpoche, some have lauded him. And I don't remember hear...

Arrow (dadar) twirled clockwise or counterclockwise?

(Due to long covid I forget the most basic things, and Googling has oddly not been successful).

I assume clockwise... but want to be sure.

Thank you.

Re: How is sadhana practice done?

For me, the turning point was finding a teacher that helped me understand the practice of Sadhanas from the "inside," that helped me make the practice come alive. Previously, I had listened to a number of great teachers, but I still didn't get it – such were my thick obscurations. Thus, my...

I have poor memory, but this has to be one of the oddest things I have read on this forum.

And it makes me sad that you feel this way.

Re: Wandering Chod

That's one of the passages I came across yesterday, I just wasn't sure if there were specific instructions like the 108 charnel ground practice. Thank you :namaste: Yes, there are such instructions, which are lineage specific (even though they share elements of course). These are typically not diss...

Re: Online Chöd programs and classes

The lama has a deep knowledge, and is a specialist of chod. I couldn't agree more. For anyone interested, I recommend getting his book "The Profound Heart Essence" (https://ganden.ch/shop/?lang=en). It conveys Lodrö Rinpoche's profound understanding very well, and is peppered with nuggets...

Re: Great intro books on Other-Emptiness?

Thank you, it certainly looks intriguing! My recommendation is the Sutra that is the primary source for the teaching of what the Tibetans call "Other Emptiness" which is The Sutra of Queen Srimala's Lion's Rpar. There are a couple of published English translations, the one by Diana Paul is...

Since you received it from Khentrul Rinpoche, you may want to watch his talk "Karma, Meat and Vegetarianism":

Re: Prophecies of Dolpopa

Agreed. This is in general, a topic that one can chase their own tail over. I concur and understand. I have been hearing about these prophecies, and that they were supposed to be very specific, and thought it might be prudent to actually read them myself and see if I could make up my own mind. Than...

Prophecies of Dolpopa

I am looking for prophecies of Dolpopa; in Sutras as well as in Tantras.

Summaries/overviews of the topic are also of interest.

Thank you.

Questions on Naga and Chutor medicines

1. Are these specific to lineage and/or practice? That is, is any top quality with the right ingredients proper to use in any offering practice to Nagas and Hungry Ghosts, respectively?

2. Reliable source of these?

Oh my, thank you! Quite excellent materials, like the mantra garlands and seed syllables (some are surprisingly difficult to find in great print).

He was absolutely pissed (I was there) when heartdrops was published and basically told all his students they should not read it,if they had not received thogal transmission. There is a solid reason why if one was not present at his thogal and yangti retreats one will never see his longsal teaching...

Re: How to avoid heretical/heterodox teachers?

I have also been a tad bit naive in this issue on one or two occasions, and can relate to you asking. There is no definitive, exhaustive list of teachers being affiliated with this practice that I am aware of. Googling the teacher's name and the name of the practice will go a long way. Also, the pra...

Re: Working With Spirits Towards Worldly Goals

Not looking so much to debate the rationality or existence of spirits, but I know people and have studied (myself) esoteric and occult practices, and have even seen some who manage to combine them with Buddhist practice as well. I've recently come to learn however that it's considered a minor trans...
