Re: We are a Kali Yuga culture

What's the evidence for the Istanbul stupa then? Heresay. A report to my Greek lama from Japanese Buddhist monks that went to Istanbul (in the mid-80's) to find the remains of the stupa and (according to them) did so. Even if that was true that's one isolated case, you can't actually be putting for...

Re: The Tantric Age: A comparison of Shaiva and Buddhist Tantra

See, this is what I love about the internet, people can make completely uninformed and ignorant comments about scholarly texts and actually think their view counts for something, whereas in the good ol' days you actually had to study, find somebody willing to oversee and support your thesis and then...

Most of the HYT empowerments (and practices) I received during my time practicing in the Karma Kagyu lineage were organised by Bodhi Path centers.

Re: We are a Kali Yuga culture

Greco-Buddhism was an Indian/Central Asian phenomenon not a European one. There is no record of Buddhist temples and communities in Europe until the modern era. My point stands. A typically Eurocentric approach where any culture that comes into contact with European culture becomes Westernised but ...

Re: Letter from Shamar Rinpoche on Vajrayana

"Without karmamudra, no Mahamudra." Hogwash. Except Harimoo is quoting Naropa's famous citation, who is the one who said this. So, in the context of Vajrayana, as taught by Naropa, it's quite correct. And I'm not sure I would go so far as to refer to Naropa's teachings as "hogwash&qu...

Re: We are a Kali Yuga culture

How could something like "spiritual degeneration" be measured, what criteria could there be ... Just look around you. And what distincts our age from the ones before, is there really evidence that this is the "dark age" ? The fact that there was a living, breathing Budha in the ...

The key point of importance for Buddhists, when it comes to Kali Yuga, is in regards to spiritual degeneration.

Re: We are a Kali Yuga culture

With regards to Dharma propagation, we here in the West are much better off than say, 2000 years ago when there was zero Buddha dharma in Europe and zero Buddha dharma in the Western Hemisphere. It's just the way Vajrayana rolls... If somebody wants to practice in the Vajrayana, they are just going to have to get used to this attitude.

Basically it seems that his opinion for Bodhi Path was: Keep it simple stupid... Makes sense to me. Actually I find that most people seem to lack a basis in Buddhist fundamentals and want to jump into Tantra with the disastrous consequences we have been seeing recently. Not that there were not disas...
