Maybe. But according to Buddhism its not.
According to Buddhism the world is flat and supported by turtles. There's a lot of good to be said about Buddhism, but a well developed discriminatory wisdom goes a long way too.

Just to be clear: I did not say anything about paranoia, and I am merely going to clarify something about the condition:. Paranoia is not merely in regards to imagined threats. It can also be an exaggerated fear reaction to a previous real threat. Yes, ISIS has made threats and acted on some of them...

Re: The Only Capitol of Israel

I am just hoping for the day when compassion for every single being will be expressed on DW either by words or holding back on personal digs. Criticism & analysis fine, just save the zingers - if possible. That's right, post inflamatory nonsense and blame other people for reacting to the nonsense. ...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

Tibet's history is a blood bath no doubt. But it's across all humanity. People will always, kill, rape and steal and rejoice about. Theres nothing to fix it. So much pride for nothing, as a collective we are infinity worse then any lice and ticks. There is something to fix it: realisation of Dharma.

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

People in Buddhist countries kill all the time. The precent of not taking life is not only applicable to human beings. In any case, the five precepts are not a part of the 4NT, and as far as right livelihood goes...I think you are being a tad idealistic. No, I don't think I am being idealistic, and...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

There are in fact Westerners raised as Buddhists in a somewhat Buddhist culture (Buddhists in Hawaii for example, possibly in other parts of the US as well). While this may be true, it is also completely irrelevant to the point I was making. Ethnic TB's do not necessarily have much familiarity with...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

Why do you suppose that? Many are not serious practitioners and have at most a passing familiarity with Dharma. Kirt I am sure that anybody brought up in a Buddhist culture will have more than a passing familiarity with (at least) the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, that alone means...

Re: DJKR, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Dharma in the West...

In general, many of the westerners who are involved in tibetan buddhism are not well-adjusted people. Naturally this will bring alot of problems. Are tibetans well adjusted to buddhism? ☺ They are born into and grow up in and are educated within a Buddhist culture, I guess that will make them somew...

Giving it to the birds or setting it in a clean and quiet (so it does not get trod on) place outdoors for animals to eat is a good idea.

At least they are being sneaky and underhanded about their support, the blundering idiot the U$ has for president, on the other hand... Sneaky and underhanded, like, by loaning Le Pen millions? And they didn't tweet about it... But you seem to be forgetting that Trump had Putin's "backing" too.

Just calling it the way I see it. And to reiterate this forum as a spiritual tool is about as useful as a knitted condom. Good for nothing. Knitted condoms are great for pecker decoration and warmth in the winter months, but this is beyond the point (and blatantly obvious) and it does not answer th...

You need teachers for pretty much everything, why would this be any different? But I disagree if someone wants to make an absolutist statement and say: "it's impossible to make any progress without a personal teacher" There are always rare exceptions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushi-dokugo Let'...

Re: Yes, you need a teacher.

Why was it that the first time ''a light was turned on in me", was after reading J.Krishnamurti, who was not a Buddhist and did not talk about Buddhism? If ultimately his books didn't reflect the four dharma seals what kind of light was it then, in retrospect? The question was rhetorical. Of course...

Since the thread was not specifically about Nichiren Buddhism, but about DW in general, the topic has been moved to the lounge.
