There are two options when faced with a wall: find a way to go around/break through it, or give up and go back to where you started from.

Re: Do you believe in chakras (energetic centers in our body)?

Hello, I'm new in vajrayana buddhism and as very rational and skeptical person, I'm looking for a proof for chakras and work with some energies. Because if it can't be proven, then I don't see any differences between this and the belief in a God. So if you believe in this, then why? Is it something...

Re: What's the Nichiren Buddhist take on abortion?

The title of this thread is: "What's the Nichiren Buddhist take on abortion?"

So far nobody has actually offered any scriptural support from Nichiren Buddhist sources to back their personal opinions.

If this trend continues I will lock the thread, as the answers are actually off-topic.

Re: Eliminating the pauses of the breath

It seems to me that it is physically impossible to eliminate the pause between the in and out breath. You can shorten and lengthen it, but not eliminate it. In most systems the pause between inhalation and exhalation is considered an effective and useful object of meditation.

I'm looking at it more from the perspective of, "Is this something that realistically can be addressed in the next two years so we have a solid chance to remove Trump?"
You think that the only way to remove Trump is to replace him with a Democratic Party candidate that is his political twin???

Bernie is a terrific person but clearly too far to the left to be a realistic prospect.
You know this world is done for when health care, infrastructure and education are considered left wing...

Re: Dalai Lama says 'Europe belongs to Europeans'

I feel you missed my point. I feel that such tragedies could have been easily avoided if those in charge called a spade a spade and chose not to ignore the “facts”. I also feel that the unfortunate rise of the alt-right we are currently witnessing is a direct result of the irresponsible leftist pol...

Re: Dalai Lama says 'Europe belongs to Europeans'

Just because the Rroma did not have the means to wipe out entire non-Rroma populations doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have done it if they had the chance. You are talking paranoid theory, I am talking fact. Fact: Gypsies have never launched a Holocaust against Europeans. On an empirical basis, I have r...

Re: Dalai Lama says 'Europe belongs to Europeans'

So sometimes I do think it is wrong to allow them in. Because it just seems like an insincere or a half-hearted action. Either let people in and welcome them, help them. Or don't. No, it doesn't work like that. That would be used as an excuse to not engage in introspection and compassion, so that y...

My devil's advocate answer was going to be that procreative sex can generate the possibility of creating more dharma practitioners, as well as facilitating precious human births. Taken to extremes, this idea that procreative sex facilitates precious human births wherein there exists the possibility...

Re: Time and Culture

So a lot of times, the time can be looked at culturally and or with ideas, and language. There are different kinds of language, including transcendental, and such like this; and whether we are advanced sometimes is shown by the words and thoughts we share. What do you think the 24th century will be...

This kind of essentialism results in holocausts.
I do believe our friend Cyril may be partial to essentialist holocaust invoking theories.

He seems to be a little too clued-up on supporting rhetoric to not be. ;)

I wonder which European nation our friend Cyril comes from?

Re: Dalai Lama says 'Europe belongs to Europeans'

Oh Christ. It's one thing to condemn genocide. It's another to read superior judgment into the terms of their language. Don't get your knickers in a knot. It's called hyperbole. I am going to push as hard as I can when I am pushed, so that hopefully it will lead to a mutually beneficial position. T...
