I'm sorry you were triggered. Surely as the gatekeeper of what is valid to share, I understand your vile response. You've certainly revealed yourself. Yes, vile. Wut ? ..... It is called over-identifying with one's habits paired with an exaggerated sense of self-importance. It usually leads to the ...

Re: Burn Buddha Burn

You appear to be suggesting that myth-making is useful in glimpsing something beyond. That may be true to an extent, however, the problem is that the glimpse that guides may be the glimpse that shapes what is seen, and what you end up with is largely a self-fulfilling prophecy and reification of tr...

Re: Cayenne Tea

I used to do cayenne tea but the addiction grew to the point where the tea was not enough and I would secretly buy canisters of capsaicin based tear gas and snort it. The burn marks under my nostrils was a giveaway, so I had to come clean one day, admit my addiction and go into rehab. Don't people ...

Re: Karma and Concussions

I know that Kung-Fu was developed as a non-violent means of fending off government military attacks on monastic communities in ancient China. You are thinking of Wing Chung. And we all now how well that worked since government forces knew Kung-Fu AND were armed to the teeth too. The Shaolin monaste...

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

I dunno, Greg. I mean, it seems like countries with greater gun constraints also have more constraints on other things, too. Aussies have more constraints on both guns and on the internet, for example. I think that essentially equals less freedom. Children scared of being shot dead while trying to ...

Re: deadliest mass shooting in the U.S.

One school shooting is already one school shooting too many as far as I am concerned. Some here may be happy to give some leeway and say that it is okay for one school shooting a month, for example, but I really fail to see the logic behind this thinking. And it is not just a case of instituting buy...

Re: Burn Buddha Burn

That might be true if we humans were rational beings, but we’re not. A person may fully know that a myth is symbolic and not literal, and nevertheless it may effect them in unexpected ways. Take Seeker’s apparent belief that zen masters are ninjas or whatever. Seems innocent enough, yet it may indi...

Re: Burn Buddha Burn

The word mystical (μυστικό) is just the Greek word for "secret". BUT it's root is from the Ancient Greek Μυώ or μυεώ which means to initiate or "to teach secrets to". Secrets here can also refer to "tricks of the trade".

Re: Burn Buddha Burn

myth-making abounds. What's wrong with myths? Myth can lack substance, and when that happens it's time to "Burn baby burn! - Burn that mother down" After all, if a tradition lacks efficacy then what good is it. A myth is only a problem for those that fail to delineate between the symbolic and the l...

How long would it take a Dzogchen practitioner to make a Pure Land better than Buddha Amitabha's?

Thanks.
