I don't want to comment on the current situation, but you should really take every photo shown nowadays with a grain of salt, to say the least.
Having commented, although you did not want to comment, do you feel better now?

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Naw, that's not what he's saying I don't think. For my part, I think it's really stupid that people can opine for hours on end about these sorts of issues without talking class, since they are all directly pinned to one's economic status. But hey, that is the American Left's political landscape cur...

Re: Reiki

Hi everyone, Does anyone practice or receive Reiki and can they comment on its effectiveness? I had my first experience with Reiki this past weekend and it was quite eye/mind-opening. From what I understand, it comes from Japan and the person who brought it to the US was a Buddhist so I thought thi...

Re: Donate to the center or to the teacher?

Generally, if you attend a teaching by a specific teacher (especially a guest teacher) you give money to the teacher for the teaching and money to the center for the center's costs.

What's his karma account look like?
I foresee an extended period cycling through the animal realm getting eaten alive by a variety of predators. Once that karma has run his course he will probably end up as a hungry ghost for a few hundred lifetimes.

Since we are talking about robots, how many soldiers will one infantry bot replace?
Infantry work in units of at least ten to cover angles and for carrying out a variety of functions, so...

Anyway, human infantry are cheaper and more expendable than robots.

Re: Who Would Eat This

Just imagine the uproar if it was Mohammed. I can even imagine some Christians getting pretty loud about it, if it was Jesus. Buddhists will probably just shrug, but I wonder if there are cultures where this would lead to strong objections. If you tried to pull this one in Thailand (for example) I ...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Profiting off the sale of a weapon that is designed to kill is a lot different than preparing meals I think. This is getting mental. This issue has nothing to do with profit or loss, with legal or illegal it has to do with voluntarily serving an organisation whose primary role (currently) is to kil...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Karma is a personal thing. If the killing isn't done themselves then it isn't wrong livelihood. A cook or medic doesn't kill so therefore no negative karma accrued. That's all I'm going to say about it, done with this thread. Gibberish. Selling weapons is also considered wrong livelihood and a pers...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

I don't have a definite answer, but you apparently agree with my basic premise anyway, despite evidently having a hard time accepting the idea that indeed, there is a difference between being a soldier and cooking for the military. It is definitely a scale of culpability, but the military cook make...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Yes. And when needed, this dissent can lead to civil disobedience and outright revolution. Excellent! The cook is saved as the cook can simply not agree with the “poor choice” of the government. Malcolm never mentioned "the cook".You are mixing up with Greg. No, he is deliberately confounding thing...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Here’s my point: Paying taxes supports the military. You would not murder someone even if threatened with jail and/or a large fine. So, why are you paying taxes that support the military? Is it too inconvenient to stop paying taxes? I pay my taxes with the understanding that I am complicit in actio...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

No, but I didn’t say anything about gangs or climbing out of poverty. If joining a gang entails engaging in illegal activities, then no, of course not. But the military is not an illegal organization. The first precept says: Panatipata veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami; "I undertake the training rule...

Would you make the same excuses for a person that chooses to join a gang to climb out of poverty (for example)?

Now you’re making excuses. No I am not. Our government (and yours too I believe) is democratically elected and reflects the will of the people. :rolling: If we didn’t want our tax dollars going to the military, we could vote for candidates who don’t support the military - or not pay our taxes. Good...

Re: Human, you are not necessary.

Good luck with that, people still put nation before class. I agree. People do not want to identify as working class, as the idea that the working class is actually the motor of modern history has become unfashionable. People like to identify as something higher or loftier. Identification with one's...
