Re: China issue death sentence against Canadian

Fines and/or imprisonment and bans is more suitable punishment instead. If you read the article you will see that he initially received a 15 year jail term and that during the appeal further evidence was found regarding his involvement in the drug smuggling. You also have to consider that, okay, th...

Re: Vanished threads list

... PS In order to do all the things that I outlined above, you have to read EVERY SINGLE POST. Every single one of them. You know how taxing it is to have to read through and assess the mental excretion of every single toxic post? It makes a proctologists job look like a stroll through a field of ...

Re: Vanished threads list

Occasionally one comes here to look up a discussion only to find that it has vanished in the night like a political dissident. Usually the reasons are easy to guess (such as the recent Shiva thread in the Tibetan forum), but sometimes they’re really not obvious at all, perhaps because the prohibite...

Re: Interesting excerpt from the (Hindu) Mahanirvana Tantra

To add to this, I am not sure if Dowman's book mentions this, but the context of the history composed by Abhayadatta, as described in the empowerment text and the commentary on the vajra songs (vajraḡiti), is that these 84 mahāsiddha gathered together for a grand ganacakra and the songs described t...

Re: China issue death sentence against Canadian

"Schellenberg had initially appealed a 15-year prison sentence for being an accessory in a plot to smuggle more than 222 kilograms (489.4 pounds) of methamphetamine from the northeastern port city to Australia in November 2014. But during the retrial, the court sided with the prosecution, which clai...

I don't know what Greg was referring to, which is why I asked him. I still don't. No, you assumed for some bizarre reason, that I was saying that there is an agent. Something that I did not say. Now go back and read the entire statement and maybe you will understand. You are a clever boy, I think y...

Re: DOUBLE ENDED PHURBA?

yes, the first ones i saw in japanese ninpo martian arts magazines :D Well, the open vajra (and obviously the one pointed vajra) is an actual weapon. Like Vishnu's Chakra. Like Mahakala's danda. Etc.. And watch out for those martian arts practitioners, they just beam down out of space and space ray...

Re: Agency

If one claims the skandhas are agents, which one is the agent? Why are you asking me? I didn't say they are agents. I said the opposite. You said, to paraphrase "relatively speaking, an agent is the skandha." I asked which one. Now you are misquoting me as well as taking my words out of context. :s...

Conventionally/Relatively speaking: the skandha. Except that they are not you. You just think they are you. ;)

One way to solve the mystery is to identify who the statue is.

So the Buddhist accounts define them as Buddhists, and the Nath accounts define them as Nath.
The Buddhist accounts predate the Nath accounts by some centuries, and this is irrefutable.
The written accounts. The oral accounts?

Yes, I know this is speculative.

Re: Interesting excerpt from the (Hindu) Mahanirvana Tantra

Dr. James Mallinson, an excellent Yoga scholar and Sanskritist of my acquaintance, writes about them here: https://eprints.soas.ac.uk/17972/1/Nath%20Sampradaya.FP.pdf Thank you for this. The popularity of the siddhas transcended sectarian boundaries, and the siddhas themselves appear from their leg...

Nope.

What I can do, if somebody is genuinely interested, is inform them the next time the wang, lung and tri are being given and they can go and ask their questions in person. I am sure the teacher will be more than happy to answer them.

To what extent is Shiva seen as having any level of realisation in this literature/lineages?
Tibetan Buddhist Shiva practices range from him being a mundane protector, to a Yidam.
