Re: Dragon kings daughter
Interesting reading(got to this part): "The vision manifested by the Dragon Princess should be understood in the same way as the Goddess’ sex change. As Zhiyi made clear, the princess did not need to abandon her body and take up another body, even if it were the body of a Buddha. However, to em...

Re: Being reborn back to now
These are fine words: "If someone is capable of embracing the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law, know that such a person is an envoy of the Buddha who thinks with pity of living beings. Those who are capable of embracing the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law relinquish their claim to the pure lan...
Re: Deity/god
From time to time i sense a "divine" feeling going through my body. It makes me feel warm, filled with love and at that moment all my worries are gone.
Unfortunately the feeling goes away rather quickly.
Anyway, it's a overwhelming feeling

Dragon kings daughter
I often read and hear that the Lotus sutra teaches us that enlightenment are for us all, whether you are a male or female. But when the dragon kings daughter become enlightened she first turns into a man. What does that really tells us? "At that time the members of the assembly all saw the drag...

Deity/god
I was reading the translators note in the nichirenlibrary website. I've read about Nichiren praying to all sorts of bodhisattvas och deities for protection. Did he really believe that the excistence of heavenly gods, dragons were real. Attending SGI meeting i have gotten the explaination that for ex...

Re: "Flirting" with SGI: any suggestions/guidance?
I have always wondered why, if we are so stupid, the rest of the world cannot get enough of our popular culture, our name brands, and so many people want to move to this country. I have also wondered how it is that people who accuse us of being stupid seem to forget that we are a country of immigra...

Re: "Flirting" with SGI: any suggestions/guidance?
So you know, me the poster was just being sarcastic about the stupid thing (maybe i should write this the next time:)
The point was that it's ignorant to make the assumption that only because there is one imbecile means that all are imbeciles.

Re: "Flirting" with SGI: any suggestions/guidance?
It's interesting to read all of your insights. Naturally the SGI isn't perfect. Hardly no organisation is but they make a positive difference for alot of people. There is alot of suffering in this world and people need organisations like SGI. Many people on this forum and other forums seem to forget...

I'm sure Ehrman is superb in his work but i get a little bit suspicous when theres testimonials on a blog. Its not enough with what he writes, he has to have people telling people how great he is. Just a thought. I'm swedish. Oh, hehe, I quite agree his ego is inflated. Try Burton Mack then, he equ...

Re: Jesus on the Nichiren Buddhist altar?
You do realize that the historical Jesus was a marginal prophet who preached the end of the world. His followers thought he was the Jewish Messiah and he'd return bringing the literal end of the world. Didn't happen...a lot of sycretization with the polytheistic Greek and Roman religion occurred wi...

Re: The Lotus sutra
Why Watson's translation? Of the English versions, the BDK or Hurvitz translations are considered better technical translations. The people we associate with have a profound effect on us - much deeper than most of us ever realize. If you associate closely with those of wrong views, those wrong view...

Re: Jesus on the Nichiren Buddhist altar?
I see Jesus as a enlightened man, not a son of a god. Jesus was like the Buddha in many ways. (According to scriptures he may have met Buddhist monks) He met people, he knew their desires, attachments and weaknesses. He gave them ways to end their sufferings. I would never put a statue of Jesus in m...

The Persecution at Tatsunokuchi
Nichiren, the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law. In the gosho "The Persecution at Tatsunokuchi" we learn that Nichiren is very literal regarding the Lotus sutra and he uses, i think, almost a fanatic approach. "How many are the places where I have thrown away my life in past existen...

Re: Clarification On Attainment
I started a new topic about the bodhissatva state and i have the same question about buddhahood and becomong a buddha.
When you've reached the state of buddhahood, are you a Buddha then?
