If you’re an adult you can set healthy boundaries an live your life as you please. If you can do that and continue to show appreciation and respect that is best.

How old are you? If you’re still under your parent’s care that’s one scenario. If you’re an adult that’s completely different.

Consciousness that is unclean.

Re: Illuminating Quotes by Malcolm Namdrol-la

The three natures as presented in the Mahayana are the parikalpita nature, the paratantra nature, and the pariniṣpanna nature. Does anyone know or can any point to any resources on the actual breakdown of these terms? They are translated in various ways, such as Imaginary, Other-dependent & Perfect...

Re: Quote of my day

This is from DW. I forget who first posted it. I thought I might die, but then I realized that the 3 Jewels would protect me. Even if you had died the 3 Jewels would still have protected you. Although I've learned much here at DW, that one posting alone has made my participation worthwhile. Thanks t...

Re: Illuminating Quotes by Malcolm Namdrol-la

A Vajrayāna practitioner, by virtue of their practice, can gather the two accumulations necessary for full buddhahood in a very short period of time. This is impossible in the cause vehicle. Of course there are some fools who think that gathering the two accumulations are unnecessary for buddhahood...

Re: Illuminating Quotes by Malcolm Namdrol-la

What practices can you recommend that would lead to a realization of the first bhumi? Something simple would be nice. Ngondro practice, refuge, bodhicitta, Vajrasattva, Mandala offerings, and Guru Yoga. One does not really need any other practices. https://dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=29902...

Re: Non-duality in dzogchen

You will gradually cast words away as your view deepens, as it becomes more profound. When the view reaches fullness, you will really know how much damage words cause. The practitioner should then recognize how submerged or entangled in words he has become. As a non-Dzogchenpa I’m ok with “just word...

Re: Non-duality in dzogchen

I think Lopön Tenzin Namdak and Kongtrul have differing opinions on this matter. That's ok as far as I'm concerned. To each his own. They don have differing opinions actually, but in your strange misconception of the Dzogchen, you imagine they do. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. :namaste:

It is a Buddhism shorn of anything objectionable to the upscale inhabitants of London, Santa Monica, and Manhattan...

Without pinning down who KR sees as his root guru, I think it safe to say that he has received authentic lineage transmissions.

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

By the way, did we ever resolve what the word "awareness" means for the purpose of this discussion? Is it the same as consciousness, or different? Is it the same as mind, or different? I still think that Q is dealing with the contradiction in terms his definition of awareness entails: an awareness ...

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

Reincarnation says that there is continuity.

Anatta says that there is no consistency, that there is nothing to limit the metamorphosis.

The two ideas are not mutually exclusive.

Re: I believe the lower realms can be emptied in a day

I believe a particular Buddha or bodhisattva could manifest in infinite bodies and perform these mantras ( dharanis ) or tantric texts for each individual being to liberate them from their pains ( lower realms ).
I assumed they are already doing that!

My guess is they can’t do it alone.
