Re: proclaiming awakening

If you have heard of a Buddhist teacher publicly speaking of their meditation experiences and/or realizations, please share. This is second hand hearsay, but supposedly in the “80s Zong R was giving the Guhyasamaja initiation in India, and during the wong he said that the greatest living practition...

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

I'm beginning to think that the only Buddha Field we really need these days is when all war, social injustice, disease, poverty, and ecological problems are solved. Plus animal rights, veganism, renewable energy, and a guarantee of personal fulfillment for every individual at birth. Plus this arrang...

Re: On Buddhism and Nominalism

There’s a story where the previous Kalu Rinpoche was told about Plato’s cave. He immediately related to it and said something to the effect of, “Yes, and I am the one who stood up, turned around, and saw things as they really are.”

Can’t source it, but thought I’d share anyway.

Not to mention that great masters actually teach Vajrayana in the west, and as such clearly disagree with you.
Ah yes, but are we willing to practice it the way they teach it without mixing in our own unaware preconditions?

As evidenced by our attachment to our views, no.

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

Personally I find addiction, criminality, disease, and war absolutely and totally unacceptable. Yet I am told all that is still just part of “The Great Perfection”. So I assume at some point I will have to drop my unaware objections to life in order to see that. But since I’m happy to just be a lowe...

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

My point being, if you (we, me) are not willing to risk everything on the Vajrayana path, maybe you/we/me should not follow this path.
As I’ve said elsewhere, maybe Vajrayana should not be taught to Westerners.

Just a thought.

Re: Is everything "one" or are we just inter-connected without a center?

A teaching I got that’s of possible relevance: In the Guru Yoga what we are actually devoted to is the Dharmakaya. The first analogy given for this was that the Dharmakaya is like snow on a mountain. Our devotion is like sunlight that melts the snow. When the snow melts the Lama is the pipeline thro...

It occurs to me that “An Olive Branch” would most likely not have a license to practice law in Canada. Or France, where they have been mentioned in regards to the Rigpa situation also. I read it, the law firm is based in Halifax, Olive Branch is not. Shambhala is in Halifax. The sentence is badly written. In its letter to the Shambhala community, the council also announced that it has hired a law firm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the group’s international headquarters, to do an indep...

As the Board of Directors is implicated in covering up the sexual assaults of Mipham the...

Yes, I read that. It doesn't support the idea that he stil drinks heavily. Bill W’s definition of an alcoholic is someone that cannot control their drinking once they start. If SM is actually able to moderate his drinking he does not qualify as an alcoholic. If so, then good for him. Congratulation...
