Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

Malcom said: ".... did not prepare his students properly, this automatically means he is an unqualified teacher and his students have no samaya with him at all, apart from as a Vajra brother. If Sogyal is in the wrong, it is axiomatic that his critical students are not in the wrong at all, from a sa...

Re: Crazy scandal somewhat related to Gelug hitting Taiwan......

Are there any sources that are more diverse? Quite some, but all in Chinese language.... Fu-Je ('Bliss' and Wisdom) has published several statements on their website http://www.blisswisdom.org/statement/1854-1006 if you can read Chinese. But don't worry if you can't, it doesn't really say much. It ...

Re: Crazy scandal somewhat related to Gelug hitting Taiwan......

I am from Taiwan and I heard about this for actually quite several years. Basically the whole story is: Ven. Jih Chang was a Chinese/Taiwanese monk, who got interest in Lamrim Chenmo by Je Dzongkapa, and decided to promote this great book in Taiwan. He did it quite successfully in Chinese Buddhist e...

Re: Very sad news: Letter to Sogyal Rinpoche / Abuse allegations

I am not that much emotionally/spiritually linked to SR and I have no intention to defend whatever. All I want to say about this thing is, everyone is responsible for his/her own spiritual path. Since people talk about samaya, do take samaya seriously. No matter you like it or not, there are samayas...

Cham Trul Rinpoche will give teachings this week.
I haven't met him but I think he is a main-stream Nyingma lama.

Re: recommended Dzogchen retreats/courses/teachers

I agree with Karma Yeshe that there's no much point to claim who's the 'greatest' alive. People have different definition on what is great and what is 'greater'. Back in 3 months ago, many people would have said Kyabje Jadral Rinpoche is the greatest living Dzogchen master, but Rinpoche was not real...

Re: recommended Dzogchen retreats/courses/teachers

After Kyabje Taklung tsetrul Rinpoche passed away, Kyabje Yangthang Rinpoche is probably the last older Tibetan lama who actively give transmission including Dzogchen teaching. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche used to visit europe every two years. Yangthang Rinpoche might visit europe again, or you can meet...

Re: Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche

As you can read and might have heard, Kyabje Rinpoche didn't show any sign of illness before passing into dharmata. Usually he gets up at 3:30 to do his morning session; on that day he got up at 1:30 and started the session earlier. He only left after he completed it. Some of us have evidenced how R...

Re: Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche

This is from Tulku Dakpa's facebook page, briefly introduce Kyabje Rinpoche's life and passing away. Lord of the Hundred Families, the Glorious Guru Kyabje Taklung Tsetul Rinpoche, displayed the activity of dissolving his enlightened intention into dharmata at Vajrasana—the supreme place. Kyabje Tak...

Re: Murder of Akong Rinpoche & Entourage

This now reported in the British papers. How really, really sad. Akong Rinpoche would be appalled. Even though none of the families of those killed would want this, I'm sure, I fear the Chinese are not likely to listen. They probably wouldn't listen. But, in the non-Buddhist point of view, should t...

Re: Khenpo Sonam Gyatso passed away unexpectedly

Very sorry to hear this unfortunate news. Om Mani Padme Hung. I am uncertain what to make of the mysterious part, or the implications: was he treated by a western doctor, or was an autopsy performed? The symptoms sound similar to that of an acute peptic ulcer (vomiting blood with intense abdominal ...

Khenpo Sonam Gyatso passed away unexpectedly

He was a well-respected khenpo from Drukpa Kagyu lineage. The passing away was very unexpected and probably not peaceful by definition. The Gyalwang Drukpa office openly suggests: 'It is with great sadness to inform that Khenpo Sonam Gyatso, one of the greatest living abbots of the Drukpa Lineage, a...

They did appeal to higher court. http://world.huanqiu.com/article/2016-01/8479376.html Not something that Akong Rinpoche would have wanted, And his bro...

Re: empowerments and focus

All commitments roll into your main practice. :namaste: This depends. Hmmm... on what? K On the teacher and the tradition. Not every teacher and lineage allows students to merge commitments into one main practice, especially when the practice is from different school/lineage. In magnus case, Gelug ...

Re: Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche's Marriage

Oh, there are many meaningful things related to this (in general, 'tulku's marriage') can be discussed. Like the concept of 'marrige' in Tibetan culture compare to Western's, how much it based on the person's backgroud rather than knowing the person, and (not in this case but in many cases) when a f...

The topic is Kalu Rinpoche's marriage, so I guess we are quite on the topic... There is a new comment post from said to be a close friend of Ms Mingyur (his ex wife) under the facebook post, offering another side of story. I won't copy and paste to here considering there might be Rinpoche's students...

Re: filling and consecration of statues

It's possible to fill in by yourself, usually people can not consecrate a Buddha statue by themselves unless they finished basic retreat. Consecrating a statue is like performing fire puja or giving empowerment, only qualified lama (not even common monk) can do. Doing these without qualification is ...

Re: Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche on Reading Dzogchen Books

I think this topic has been discussed last year or earlier? I posted this story before, I will post again. Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's biography, Brilliant Moon, has different translations. In Taiwanese publication, it contains more than the original as several important lamas' interviews were ...
