Re: Situation of Kalu Rinpoche

thank you Cone! do you know if he is/will be Shangpa lineage holder? my apologies for the question as i know very little on the subject. I got very good impression of him and at the same time when i see how troubled his training was i am curious if it was complete for him to be Shangpa lineage hold...

Without pinning down who KR sees as his root guru, I think it safe to say that he has received authentic lineage transmissions.
No doubt in my mind.

Re: Situation of Kalu Rinpoche

does anybody know whom Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche considers his root guru atm? Presumably Bokar R. But that's just my guess. HE Situ Rinpoche, I believe, based on what I have heard Yangsi Kalu Rpinoche and HE Tai Situ Rinpoche say in the past. Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche was definitely important to him and gav...

Re: Beginning tantrayana

Greetings. How do you define the relationship to a Lama that you have received empowerments from? Do they automatically become your tsawei lama, also considering this person may be the only accessible lama for me? Is it always a choice or can it be circumstantial(karma)? ** Is there a point when be...

Re: What is reborn after death?

Malcolm; Thank you again. However, while I understand your explanation, it doesn’t answer my questions. The Buddha is reported to have spoken of the three conditions necessary for the birth of a human being which includes the presence of a gandharva, but what are the conditions for the arising of a...

Indeed.

In my tradition we recite NamJom and NamGyalma zungs before any major drupcho. Most Karma Kagyu associated lamas and monks have it by heart.

I agree that Dems should not try impeachment, unless there is bipartisan support; however, they may now be in a position to subpoena records and protect Mueller. DS Yes. We will have to see what bomb Mueller drops. But I forsee DT being elected to a second term, unless something un-f-ing believable...

Re: Nyung Ney

Is this practice something that needs empowerment before performing? Ideally, yes. With regard to the discussion---although it's common to explain Nyung Nes as a "kriya"" practice, it can be approached from a variety of views....I will not elaborate, but I will recommend Nyung Nes. This is a powerf...

Re: Guru yoga for longchen?

LongChen Nyingthik is a quite popular cycle, taught by many Lamas throughout the world. You should locate a teacher who teaches this lineage, and take Ngondro transmission. The whole of ngondro is actually really a guru yoga practice. Tigle Gyachen would be something you would practice later on, mos...

Re: Rime subforum in Tibetan Buddhism

My personal feeling is that "Rime" is not an institution, nor is it really a separate lineage of practice, so it should be covered under the general TB forum. As a movement, in the 19th Century, it arose due to very specific sectarian issues. In particular, it was largely started and encouraged by S...

Re: Garchen Bernakchen Sadhana

Hmm, something’s maybe fishy here. I suppose there are many ways of understanding but I was always taught that Dorje Bernagchen was not an manifestation of Avalokiteshvara. Is it possible that Garchen Rinpoche was giving a different empowerment and some well meaning disciple just put some accidenta...

Re: Guruyoga with one's enemies?

At a certain level of practice, all experience is the display of the guru. This includes one’s enemies. There is something called “lama’i Lam Khyer” in this regard. Yes! I am familiar with this idea in general, and specifically as discussed in Dilgo khyentse Rinpoche's book "Wish fulfilling Jewel. ...

neoliberalism... ...has in fact lifted a billion people on the planet out of chronic poverty. It just hasn't done good things for the American working class. But America First, right? In other words, what I mostly see here is people obsessing about American jobs and American politics, but there is ...

Re: Garchen Bernakchen Sadhana

I seriously doubt the "full wang" of Bernakchen was given by Garchen Rinpoche over the internet. I don't want to go down that road of discussing on-line empowerments. The complete empowerment of Bernakchen is a very rare thing, but there are torwangs, etc. I didn't know that Garchen Rinpoche gave th...

Re: Democrats are compulsive self mutilators

The "conspiracy" is in the way the so-called "dunces" have been convinced that their vote is pointless. Rich people may have one vote each....but all votes are not equal. Money buys votes, and canny manipulators know how to use their money to buy the votes that will influence the game in their favor...

In addition to to all the good advice in this thread, the Kagyu Monlam Prayer Book is a good source for prayers in English. Some are specific to Kamtsang, but many are shared by all Tibetan lineages.
