Re: Did i reach nirvana?

, etc but for full-enlightenment; if you have to ask, that means it is not. Attaining nirvana in a sense of awakening is not full enlightenment. It's just the first step of becoming able to start real cultivation. But yes, I'd agree that,if you've seen the truth, you'll know you've seen the truth. ...

Ah, yes, which is why many buddhists are so proud of dharma battles which were won by their particular sect.

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

judge the attainments of others via an online forum. You know, when I'm talking about observations, I'm not restricting that to this forum here. If you're world-view is already so limited that you're doing that, you might well have a problem, but that, again, is not my problem. And of course there ...

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

Wanted to tell me that you've judged my attainments, come to the conclusion that I'm not qualified and therefore wanted to call me arrogant? That is not what I was saying at all, please read the statement again. What I wanted to point out, is that it is rude to attack others and presume to them to ...

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

I just think it is extremely arrogant and impolite to judge the spiritual attainments of others based on postings you read on an internet forum. I hope all of us can post opinions here without being subjected to such summary judgements. It is really only those with attainments who are qualified to ...

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

(in a David Miscavige type voice) Where are you on the bridge? I'm the bridge and not the bridge etc... you know the rest of it. That's, I HOPE that as a monk at least you know the theory of it. But we're OT, so I propose you open up another thread if you'd like to discuss that. Though I fear your ...

Even if that "heroes" vs. "homosexuals" was a Freudian typo, and I hope it's not intentional rating, it might give insights.

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

I think I am perfectly on topic if I just state - well, if you are a monastery, you have to set priorities. Monks are those who work for you. Those youngsters are just those cumbersome things you have to feed and you have to care for. Where would the world end up if you left the question how to care...

Re: Sexual and physical abuse in religious institutions

You mean it's not obvious to you that a school focusing on form will hardly lead you further than to form developments? I guess you like the formless meditations better. Well, the completion stage of those meditations you seem to object to has those as well. Or am I completely misunderstanding you?...

Re: Tibetan institutional religious violence

Mind your own speech and be responsible with such sweeping allegations if you're going to make them, IMO. Otherwise you are in no position to be lecturing other people on their karma. lol, why not? It's a mechanism. It affects me like it affects you. Whether you feel that the causes I create will l...

Wait, are you implying that there is some sort of conspiracy to introduce Tantra in order to destroy a nation? Really? I'd sure like to hear more about this allegation. Let me ask something: does domestic violence happen in your community? Yes? Straw man from there until the ad hominem attack: }So why don't you try thinking through your (flimsy) argument before posting? Do you (like Rory and Venerable Indrajala) have a chip on your shoulder too? @Jikan: If the las...

To get back to some key-part of this thread, the karma involved with letting such things happen: It is even worse than that. Which assumes that the abbots are letting it happen. Okay, so you have evidence about the disciplinary things the abbots did whenever such things got public? That would be qu...

Re: Cundī Dhāraṇī questions

Oh, I'm reciting this mantra, but mainly without counting, as I'm neither a monk or nun nor in retreat, so I often recite "on the way". Cundi is really a great teacher, it's good to make contact with him/her (as I'd agree he's more male than female). A sadhana can be found at Bill Bodris m...

I am sorry that you feel so outraged and upset, Minjeay. It seems that you have come here hoping for encouragement and support, but have instead been met with (what is perceived as) condemnation and rejection. I can understand how much that must hurt. I don't know what else I can say. Except that i...
