Re: New Walking Meditation Resources

Thank you for this.

As I am going through some "stuff" at the moment - (and yes I know it's the best time to practice), I find it hard to actually sit on my meditation pillow, but have discovered the last 2 days the joy of walking meditation again.

Re: New & Improved treatment for various forms of cancer?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was some new treatment for cancer, one that doesn't actually hurt and harm us while healing us. You are right in that cancer has the uncanny ability to mutate and form immunity to certain drugs. In addition and what I find hardest to deal with is that the medication...

Re: knickers in a twist over nothing?

But, if you worry about your son, then disprove the propaganda with questioning arguments.

ex: "Where is heaven?" "what is it made of?" "how can God hear you speak?" etc.
Just to add, I'm not convinced that this is a great idea with a 5 year old - but that's just me!

Re: knickers in a twist over nothing?

I can certainly understand your concerns. I have 2 kids who are very strong Christians, despite my Buddhist beliefs. This is their choice and I am happy with it as it makes them happy and in some way brings them some sense of peace and joy. My daughter will still however assist me in cleaning our me...

Re: Prayers for Geshe Phende

Many thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. I have just received this update, which I would like to share with you: Geshe-la was moved to the ICU a little past 9:00 am this morning. He's a little sedated, of course, but responsive, smiles and recognizes people, can squeeze a hand, and has even an...

Prayers for Geshe Phende

I ask for your prayers for my teacher, Geshe Phende, who is undergoing a liver transplant right now. Prayers too for the family and friends of the donor. May they find a sense of comfort and peace at this time.

Re: human trafficking in ohio, usa

Human trafficking generally refers to people who are moved across borders - say from one country to another, although it can also refer to those moved from one city to another. It is also "against that persons will" or under false pretences.

Very sad - and surprisingly rife

Re: Does the precept of no drugs or alcohol mean no coffee?

I personally like the text (translation/paraphrase) that reads : ...to refrain from intoxicants or any abuse of the senses which are the occasion for carelessness... It is in the carelessness caused by these intoxicants that we harm others (and ourselves) and as such I prefer to refrain from them. C...

Maitreya Project : Relic Tour - Your thoughts...

The Relic Tour has found it's way to my little town here in South Africa and I had the opportunity to view them and meet the Venerable Lhundrup Nyingje (Paula Chichester), which was a wonderful experience. The venue was beautifully decorated and the display truly exquisite, complete with water, flow...

Re: Mahamudra : What do you plan to do after ngondro?

As to deciding what practice to do, I think the best way to pick what practice you do after you finish ngöndro is to pick the one that will enable you to be of the most benefit to sentient beings.

Re: Multiplication of merit?

I remember hearing something about Indra or Brahma or Guru Rinpoche visiting on such and such a day, so if they see you being good it's better. Don't quote me on that though. I was once told by a Tibetan monk that sometime they told the Tibetan people these kind of things in an effort to get them t...
