Re: Where to begin?
Then you are already studying with a Dzogchen master,. Come to Gomde Denmark this summer and get teachings you want. /magnus Ok, so Tara's triple excellence is supposed to lead to Dzogchen? It's difficult for me to combine the visualization with chanting in Tibetan while maintaining in a meditative...

Re: Where to begin?
definitely haven't been able to grasp Madhyamaka yet. This is irrelevant in dzogchen. The dzogchen master will introduce you to the nature of mind and take it from there. But this really has to be done in person (although not necessarily one on one). Kirt Hi, I live in southern Sweden. I've studied...

Re: Where to begin?
definitely haven't been able to grasp Madhyamaka yet. Just a tiny bit of advice: if you think that madhyamaka is something to grasp, you are not ready to practice dzogchen. Dzogchen is about not grasping anything at all. Even by posting this, I am not practcing dzogchen. I've understood that & ...

Where to begin?
Hi, Off & on I've been trying to find a way to learn about & practice Buddhism for some time & am always drawn to the Tibetan form of it. I've tried meditating on guru & deity meditation (through diamond way & dharmasun) but I've found it hard for various reasons & think I mi...

Re: Poll: Kalacakra war prophecy
I've never heard of the 'kalachakra forces'. Can someone give a quick overview? Obviously, The problem of Islamic militancy is growing & is likely to continue growing in proportion with the growth of the populations that are Islamic.

Re: How can I be a secular philosopher and a dedicated Buddh
Don't be sectarian. Be a Buddhist philosopher, but you don't have to point out that you are a specifically Buddhist philosopher but I think that it's a strength that you also draw from buddhism instead of the regular old guard of enlightenment era guys

Re: The Canon in Mahayana & Theravada
The present day buddhism is to a large extent a product of the european scientific world view. It is not a product of enlightened masters of Mahayana or Sravakayana. If you had faith in say Tsongkhapa, Zhi Yi, Dogen, Linchi, or any other great master, who had attained perfect enlightenment, who saw...

The Planets in Vajrayana / Tibetan Buddhism
Do the 7 gods who rule the planets have corresponding deities in Vajrayana or Tibetan Buddhism as well? Saturn (Kronos in greek) Jupiter (Zeus in greek) Mars (Ares in greek) Sun (Sol or Helios in greek & Apollo) Venus (Aphrodite in greek) Mercury (Hermes in greek) Moon (Luna & Diana or Selen...

Re: The Canon in Mahayana & Theravada
Thank you for the informative answers. Have there never been a process of narrowing down the vast amount of scriptures to what's most essential & authoritative? I think the hindus categorize the vedas and upanishads among others as direct revelations or sruti and others in further categories. It...

The Canon in Mahayana & Theravada
Hi, Is there a canon of scriptures that is broadly accepted within both Mahayana & Vajrayana? Does it include the whole canon accepted by the Theravada school? If i've understood things correctly, nothing was written down until centuries after the time of the Buddha himself? I spoke to a therava...

Re: Dharma Sun Tara's Triple Excellence
I've noticed that the 7-fold chakra layout that is the unofficial standard i Europe & the US has also become the standard among indian groups as well. At least the ones I've come across. So Dzogchen is actually a form or mode of teachings of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism & not a sep...

Re: Tibetan language--indispensible in Tantra?
Sanskrit mantras are preserved with perfect accuracy in Tibetan texts. Whether they are pronounced well by Tibetans is another matter altogether. Ok. But what about the scriptures? Are the different canons preserved in their original languages? I thought there are many scriptures that are only pres...

Re: Dharma Sun Tara's Triple Excellence
That sounds great & dispels some confusion for me. I have some other questions about yoga in Tibetan Buddhism viz Indian: Why is it that there is greater secrecy in Tibetan Buddhism teachings on kundalini or the equivalent? It seems that teachers in the Indian yoga systems teach kundalini or rel...

Re: Dharma Sun Tara's Triple Excellence
If we take the site at face value (I haven't looked closely), and is under Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche's umbrella, then the answer to your question is "yes" Chökyi Nyima represents a "hybrid" tradition (I don't mean to sound dismissive, but I can't think of a better word at...

Re: Dharma Sun Tara's Triple Excellence
Does Tara's Triple Excellence belong to the Kagyu or the Nyingma lineage of buddhism? I understand it's a terma or revelation.
Is Dzogchen part of the Nyingma lineage or its own lineage?

Re: Dharma Sun Tara's Triple Excellence
