Kalachakra 2017

Will anyone be heading to the Kalachakra at Bodhgaya in January? I thought maybe those of us attending could network and share tips/plans for the trip and teachings.

Sorry if this is a dumb question - but the Chinese "xiang zhan" or "fragrant/incense praise" that usually begins a chanting ceremony - does anyone have any in depth background information about it's origins/meaning? and why is it usually recited at the beginning of each ceremony? http://www.youtube....

Interesting - at our ceremony it was purely a "Kwei Yi San Bao" thing. We finished and had lunch and...that was it.

Ah yes! I noticed that with the Abbot at temple's sash. Red/papaya shaded with large fabric squares sewn on.

Thanks so much for all the info!

I will be looking into it and will enquire at temple/local Buddhist store about different materials for robes.

And thank you for telling me about the correct term for a manyi for lay practitioners - how does the one of a monastic differ? (just curious)

I am receiving the five precepts on Monday and have been in the refuge of the Three Jewels since July 7th at my local Fo Guang Shan. It has been a unusually warm summer here....pity I don't enjoy heat at all. And wearing a polyester haiqing robe during ceremonies haven't helped make things feel any ...
