Re: Dudjom Tröma Nagmo ngondro

i didn't now there is a ngöndro by Degyal Rinpoche. do you have any bits of info on that one? I have the Tibetan text. Pretty straightforward ngöndro, called zab gsang rdzogs pa chen po'i sngon 'gro/ yang dag lm du drang ba'i ngag don/ skal ldan bde la 'god pa'i shing rta bzhugs, hence sometimes re...

Re: Dudjom Tröma Nagmo ngondro

In this Dudjom lineage, as I understand it, many historically would jump right into Troma ngondro as their starting point, and go through the entire Troma path as their sole focus. I’m not sure if that’s still the case in the regions such as Humla, Nepal where the large gompas are where it’s still ...

Re: Vasectomy

But my concern is whether a surgery like this would be damaging to practice of Secret Mantra in general, and Dzogchen in particular. What say you, Malcolm, and others? Anyone spoke to their lama about this? I know my wife would take yet another one for the team if I told her it would be harmful to ...

Re: Vasectomy

I was present once when one of the Nyingma lineage heads was talking about various karma's of sexual actions according to the view of the Mantrayana, when it came to the topic of Vasectomy, He said "You don't even want to know think about the karma of a Vasectomy" He said that across the board, not...

Looking for Dzogchen Semde material

A question to all in the know: In my quest for getting some idea about the system(s) of Dzogchen presentation I am finding out that knowledge on mind class (semde, sems lde) is quite hard to come by. All the world talks about the instruction class - threkchö and thögal - but the mind class is seems ...

Re: Khandro Thugtig preliminaries - confused!

Hi Lingpupa, that is an easy one to answer. The two ngöndros simply refer to two different lines of transmission. The Torch Lightening the Way to Freedom (indeed, the book leaves me spell-bound, each time I open it), is the commentary to the preliminaries of the so called Khandro Nyingthig cycle of ...

Looking for Chöd Ngöndro by Shuksep Jetsunma

Hello there, I have read hints as to the existence of a ngöndro practice for the Machigma tradition of Chöd, written by the famous Shuksep Jetsunma Lochen Chönyi Zangmo. I have without success been trying to locate the Tibetan text. So if anybody out there could give me direction for my search, this...

There are definitively shorter versions of the sadhana. Check out this:

Re: 8th Karmapa empowerment

Simply stated, because the 8the Karmapa did not see it necessary to have an initiation for this practice, when he wrote the practice text.

Best,

Re: Why is Oral Sex Considered Sexual Misconduct?

I would be interested to get the recordings of Jose Cabezon's presentation at Naropa University some 4 or 5 years ago. I recall him presenting on this very topic Such as innapropriate times, orifices and the like. He mentions a whole range of material on conduct... would you look at that just happe...

Re: Changbu Gyasa Healing Ritual

Also does anyone know if there is a version of this practice contained within Dudjom Tersar? Hi Tsultrim, yes, there is this practice within the Thröma Nagmo of the Düdjom Tersar. The Changbu Gyatsa ritual bears the title: chos nyid nam mkha'i klong mdzod las mkha' 'gro khros ma'i cha lag changs bu...

Good observation. Seems a bit the same here in Europe.
I guess that is rather a matter of publicity than anything else. Then, you might end up with something like "Tulku Lama Rinpoche" or such.

Re: Milam Lungten

Thank you for clarifying, Sagara. Much appreciated. There's been a bit of Chakrasamvara activity recently, at least in the Drikung lineage. Do you think it's a pre-req to have empowerment for Khorlo Demchok and 4-armed Mahakala before engaging in this practice? Is the ML really that much shorter or...

Re: Milam Lungten

Hi everybody, I fear there are a few misconceptions about the chöd practice called Milam Lungten, Received in a Dream. Karma Chagme states in the colophon (as he usually does) the coming-about of writing the text: It was he, himself (calling himself, as usual, Raga Asya, the Sanskrit form of Chagme ...

Does JKLT say this in Treasury of Knowledge? If so, is that bit included in his summary of Chöd in volume 8 ("Esoteric Instructions")? Have either the root text (Yönten Kunden) or the commentary (Crystal Mirror) been translated into English, or are they only extant in Tibetan? If the latter is the ...

Re: Tsogley Rinchen Trengwa

There is another extensive Chod liturgy which is sometimes done by Karma Kagyupas as well, but I forget the name of it. Cone, you might be thinking of "Having All Qualities" (yon tan kun ldan), which is the Rinchen Trengwa-equivalent of the Surmang Kagyu tradition. For all those to whom that doesn'...

Re: Getting back on track after a failing teacher

Dear Vajrapine, they always recount those stories of past giants each lineage has and their teacher-student relationships. That's how it should be, in a perfect world those things you describe wouldn't happen. Yet they happen. And we get hurt. But, notwithstanding the emotional pain such things prod...
