Re: Is Tibetan Buddhism against panpsychism, or is Wikipedia wrong?

Just my opinion:
In Buddhism, panpsychism would be considered a relative view of the world of phenomena but I don't think it would be considered an ultimate view.

The two truths (satyas) are cognitions, actually.

Did Chandrakirti use the words "truth", "cognition" and "nature" interchangeably?

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

When it is asserted that an ultimate truth is merely a conventional truth, it necessarily implies that there is only the conventional truth. And it all went down into a logical rabbit hole when combined with the definition that "An ultimate truth is the veridical perception of a given entity, a rel...

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

Note also that "...it does not arise, does not cease..." This implies that it simply is. I think it is better to understand the ultimate as above then to say it is non-inherent. This is because you have an Advaita Vedanta type view. Only because you could not really see what I am saying, so what el...

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

I especially like how it explains the non-inherence of ultimate truth as meaning that "ultimately things are neither inherently born, nor do they inherently end" .... Something that is inherently born is static. This is understood to refer to the idea of eternalism where no change of any sort is po...

And there are Buddhists who assert that there is no implicate order (ultimate) and that there is only the explicate order (relative). You will find on this board the voices with the most influence belong to the latter. I think they are wrong though. No one involved with this board asserts "the latt...

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

This sounds Advaita-ish to me. Are you a fan of Buddhism and Advaita? Re-read my first post and tell me if it sounds Advaita-ish to you. If yes, why? Btw, could it be that the fear of being accused of being a fan of Advaita is what made many rejects the idea of an ultimate and cling to the relative...

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

My (slightly educated) guess would be that, since dialectic monism posits an underlying reality, it is incorrect to say that emptiness is a flavor of dialectic monism. Because no matter how you stretch it, emptiness doesn't allow for any final essence, implicate order, that kind of thing. Otoh the ...

If the Five Light arise from the basis, and all matter is ultimately the Five Lights, doesn't this mean that in fact, in some sense all matter is pervaded by awareness, just simply not "from it's own side"? No, the reason for this is that such appearances are a result of traces, i.e., all appearanc...

Re: Nechung Kuten Recognizes Yeye Omileye

Buddhas have no intentions. So how does that makes it impossible for a Buddha to manifest specifically through a medium since having no intentions does not preclude the Buddha from manifesting as as anything anyway. Sure it does, a buddha cannot manifest as a mara, for example. All the activities o...

Of course.
What does "fake" exactly mean?

viewtopic.php?f=39&t=28200
That they are lying and putting on a show of being mediums.
That is one possibility. Another possibility is that the mediums were channelling beings who posed as Buddhas or Bodhisattvas.

Re: Nechung Kuten Recognizes Yeye Omileye

Just to echo an older discussion on the topic of oracles, JKhedrup, who spent some time at Sera Je: There is a huge difference between manifesting THROUGH oracles and manifesting AS AN oracle. A Buddha can manifest as or emanate anything. Therefore, there is no reason why a Buddha cannot manifest o...
