Re: Circumcision

Since according to Abrahamic traditions God has neither a gender or a body I doubt it. Doubt what? This: Pro tip: ask your local preacher if God the Father is himself circumcised. I'm glad I did. That was a joke. I didn't really ask any local preacher about the dimensions of God's penis, bu...

Re: Scary Liberal Views and Policy Positions?

Last night Sean Hannity (Fox News contributor) said, “many are hailing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a rising star on the political landscape but in reality, her views, her policy positions, are actually downright scary.” And then showed a graphic outlining her platform: “Medicare For All” “Housing A...

Re: Circumcision

All the rationales for this practice that I have been exposed to are cultural and not scientific (specifically, references to Biblical or Quranic tradition). I find those arguments completely unconvincing. [Pro tip: ask your local preacher if God the Father is himself circumcised. I'm glad I did.] ...

I appreciate that Russia was finally exposed today against Uruguay. And it's been a delight to see Mexico perform as well as they have. This is one substory at work at this years WC that can stand as a reminder of How Samsara Works. Remember that Serbia-Switzerland match? Behold: FIFA has announced ...

Re: Sarlo's Guru Rating Service

Interesting to browse but he sure could use some basic web formatting skills, the site looks like all websites used to in 1996. Classic Geocities / Angelfire look. I remember finding and having a laugh at Sarlo's guru rating site in the late 1990s. It's somewhat refreshing to see that it persists.

Re: Circumcision

I don't see any arguments grounded in Dharma in favor of circumcision. This is the only argument grounded in science that I could find, and it's rather limited in scope and applicability. There is compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in...

Re: So, Anthony Bourdain...

I'll admit I occasionally look at the Daily Mail, and saw a couple days ago pics of his girlfriend with another dude and thought, "uh oh.". And then two days later he commits suicide... Of course it's tragic, but as a Buddhist it's weeks like this that remind me of the real truth behind the whole S...

I think different traditions will hold different perspectives on this question.

For this reason, it may not be possible to have anything other than a really, really weird conversation like the one we've seen so far on this topic.

Re: Yidams on a bikini

There's a post going around on social media addressing the depictions of Buddha, Tara, and some yidams being placed on bathing suits, skirts, shirts, etc. and people are expressing “outrage” and are calling for a boycott of Amazon who is selling this merchandise. As practitioners I would think folk...

Re: World Bee Day

Bees are great. I was recently back in Klamath Falls, Oregon, USA on a work trip. Several generations of my family (maternal) lived there, and I spent some time there too in my youth. A typical moment that is relevant to this topic: One summer evening in the mid-1980s, my grandfather loaded several ...

Re: Mipham: Gelug = Svatantrika Madhyamaka

Personally, I’m completely put off by the animus on both sides*. * And to be clear, I don't think Tsongkhapafan has displayed animus in his posts that I've read over the last couple of years, even if perhaps he used to. Jeff - there are two discussions here, and I think it’s helpful to separate the...

Re: in the air

Over Europe there is presently Sahara sand in the air. Sunrise and sunset are as red as if doomsday has come. I cannot enjoy its aesthetic, some ancient angst arises. Slight symptoms of migraine. Breathtaking constricts. My mind is since Saturday morning, I don't know, diffused, stirred. Subtly mul...

Re: Non-Duality in Dzogchen vs Advaita Vedanta

Mooji [Advaita/ Zen master who I am familiar with] says all phenomena are manifestations of consciousness and the same nature as consciousness. The consciousness he is referring to is the clear light mind or Buddha Nature. This view is accepted by some Tantric Prsangikas and is almost indistinguish...

A better world is also without chem trails. Chem trails contain substances which are bad for health.
there are many good ideas in this thread so far.

however: chemtrails do not exist. They are fiction.

Maybe Oreganol which is made from wild oregano can remove it. I have seen it advised in protocol for ulcer. It's very potent stuff.

Maybe also specific technology, like the rife devices, spooky2 for exemple, may be helpful to get rid of this, in a very targeted way.
Maybe.

So many maybes.

Re: helicobacter pylori bacteria endemic in Tibetan monastery

Thanks all for this enlightening thread. How does one get diagnosed with this problem? Here's how I was diagnosed: I went to see my MD for an unrelated condition. They ran a CBC and discovered I was anemic, like really scary anemic. So, they went hunting for where I was leaking blood. Endoscopy rev...

Re: The letter about Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoches passing

I had the good fortune to hear him teach for about an hour on one occasion. I felt strongly at that time that I would really like to learn more from him, to receive more teachings, and so on. He was direct, clear, joyful, and humble. This was less than two years ago. No matter the content of that le...
