Re: Interconnected - HH Ogyen Trinley Droje

to feel that others’ claims on us undercut our freedom. We experience our relationships as ties that bind us and limit our freedom.
I think many people who start contemplating renunciation have these feelings. Can't imagine people who don't.

Re: The Self-Arisen Vidya Tantra and The Self-Liberated Vidya Tantra A Translation of the Rigpa Rang Shar and Rigpa Rang

The initial draft of the Rangdrol took about three months, finished in Dec 2011, and subsequently, five drafts. The initial draft of the Rangshar took about 6-7 months, that was completed in October 2012. It subsequently went through six drafts. Then, after a hiatus where we worked on Buddhahood (o...

Re: The Self-Arisen Vidya Tantra and The Self-Liberated Vidya Tantra A Translation of the Rigpa Rang Shar and Rigpa Rang

Thank you very much Malcolm. Truly extraordinary. How long did it take you to translate the whole text? Must have been a few days. BTW, if anyone has lack of funds but has the requirements to read this text, please let me know. I will pay for three sets and shipping for those who can't affor...

Re: Commitment Issues

... Did half a Ngondro. Got dissatisfied because my Lama hasn't been to the West in over 3 yrs now. ... Success in most areas of life has a lot to do with persistence. Were it me, irrespective of which lama you eventually follow, I would finish the LN ngondro. There is real value to making a commit...

Re: Does Tarthang Tulku teach dzogchen?

Whenever I spoke to his former students,I only heard about the karma yoga they did. They rarely saw him and he didn't teach much. He did however had them work quite a bit.

Re: Ha Ri Ni Sa

Thank you. That does help.

ALso, I was hoping to learn a little more on when these first appeared in the texts and how they got to be so spread in all traditions.

Many thanks,

Re: The Tantric Age: A comparison of Shaiva and Buddhist Tantra

I cannot tell you the number of obvious errors I see in PhD dissertations on a regular basis, particularly with respect to Vajrayāna topics. And I could say the same of all those "dharmic" translations of Vajrayana and Dzogchen texts. For instance, there is not a single translation of the Ye-shes b...

Re: Lama Norha

Follow that line of thinking and create a "dream bubble". Imagine you in a traditional setting in Tibet or some other place and you are sitting around a reverenced leader and then when you are alone he touches you. I imagine it would be horrific. Your family has put a whole heap of expectations on ...

I would go with Garudashop. Run by a great practitioner and excellent quality products. And, maybe just as important, he gives the people he buys from a very fair price.

Re: The Teacher-Disciple Relationship

Your teacher is not your friend. He or she is someone in whom you've placed your trust to guide you in the Dharma. Yes, but Dharma is connected to daily life. So, what if you disagree with their daily life choices or advice on your daily life? Is that guidance in the Dharma or just their opinion wh...
