Re: matter, dharmas, Buddhism

I have an idea of what winds are, but I am not sure about the exact tantric definition. Maybe another person will answer. I don't think physics is ready to say what the most finite component of matter is. Personally I see a problem with saying the most finite part is energy because energy relies on ...

Re: Ajanta Caves Ancient Aliens ROFL

You know how in debate you set up a straw man argument by misrepresenting people's position? Well, by pushing crazy people into the spotlight or paying actors, website builders, bloggers, etc. to appear crazy and present alternative views you build up an idea in the society. "alternative views ...

Winds. Matter is made of winds. Atoms are made of winds.
At least that is the tantric point of view, other Buddhist may have other views.

Re: Is spiritual progress worth it?

I think spiritual work actually takes a lot less. You can spend all your time doing worldly work and it never ends, you never get to a point where you can completely stop working, you never get to a point where you're completely satisfied with worldly work. With spiritual work there is an end to the...

Re: Silly question: sleep versus meditating

You're just shaving off an hour or something of sleep. You probably do that on a regular basis for trivial things like a tv show you like or social events. If you don't have an hour a day to meditate then you need to look at your priorities. HHDL does like what, 7 hours of meditation and prayers a d...

Re: Ajanta Caves Ancient Aliens ROFL

The E.T. relationship is a possibility, as I'm very open-minded about Extraterrestrials. The problem is when it becomes a type of racism, i.e. as if non-Caucasians couldn't have possibly built that by themselves, so it must have been with help from outer space. Unfortunately there are a number of E...

Re: Everybody speaks about samaya, but nobody knows what it

I never really thought about deities in that way. But still: Could relying solely on method to the exclusion of a Guru produce liberation? (Like, if you received teachings and then the Guru died/ went crazy/ gave up Buddhism.) Could relying solely on a Guru to the exclusion of a method produce liber...

No, they all begin with a transmission from the Sambhogakāya to a mahāsiddha, or in certain cases, like Virupa, from a Nirmanakāya to a mahāsiddha.
How does a Buddha deity differ from Nirmanakaya and Sambhogakaya?

Re: Concentrated/Single Point Meditation

You can actually visualize the smell of incense if you want and when the subtle karmas ripen you'll smell it. Some of you might actually notice the strong smell of incense already when you come in contact with dharma books. I suppose that is a sign of your relationship with dharma, or the book has b...

Re: Concentrated/Single Point Meditation

You know how in a room you are familiar with you can close your eyes and still know the layout of the room? The visualization should be like that. You aren't seeing it with your eyes at all. Later when that visualization becomes really stable a corresponding subtle image will come to the surface whi...

Re: Everybody speaks about samaya, but nobody knows what it

ooh. That thing, I forgot about that. I don't think a biography is a suitable source to base doctrine on personally. We have tantras, sutras, valid commentaries, reason, etc, that you can use to back up your views. It occurs to me that what I said about Dodey is probably not in the biography of Marp...

Re: Everybody speaks about samaya, but nobody knows what it

Marpa's family did not receive the lineage because he tried to give the dangerous ejection syllables teaching to his son dharma dodey against the wishes of his Guru and a tantrikka destroyed Dodey's body. However, I have no where read where any deity gave permission to Marpa that contradicted his gu...
