Re: Who are the tulkus in the documentary "TULKU"
I tend to agree with some of username's points here: what Gesar does or doesn't practice is between him and his Guru, in this case Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. Since their relationship seems quite good, we can assume Gesar is a good disciple which means he is a good practitioner. It is none of our b...

Re: Who are the tulkus in the documentary "TULKU"
You are wrong to say I said what he has practiced, I didn't. I think you should read your post again. 1- No, please let's try to be honest here: I'd say he can do a major terma cycle ( say Dudjom Tersar with part exemption of ngondro) and trekcho concurrently and various shorts and then another fro...

You are wrong to say I said what he has practiced, I didn't. I think you should read your post again. Why not investigate see why a docu on a bunch of young mid/low-level tulkus reborn in the west creates such strong reactions and emotions in you? Nyingmas originally didn't have tulkus nor hierarch...

Re: Who are the tulkus in the documentary "TULKU"
He's been practicing since a kid, he can accomplish a practice in retreat (probably has) and give transmissions for it and if a major yidam practice, others too. Not what you invent above. He doesn't have to finish: ngondros (probably 2), lama, yidam, khandro, trulkhor, rushens/semdzins, semde/meng...

Re: Who are the tulkus in the documentary "TULKU"
Main thing is realizing the nature of mind and progressing the levels within that which is hidden. DKR is referring to his activities aspect. I don't know Gesar but he seems to be doing just fine. If Gesar has completed his lama, yidam and dakini practices in those given retreats then DKR would be ...

Re: Who are the tulkus in the documentary "TULKU"
For my 2 cents worth; I think this is a whole testament to whether one connects with the living thread of practice ripening through tantra or not. I have even heard such testament from other tulkus who said they didn't really wake up until they woke up to what the nature of the practice was all abou...

Re: Mindrolling lineage
Hopefully you can follow, but sometimes you are the only drummer for example. I think you are probably at least more competent than I. My ritual competence definelty needs more education and practice. :juggling: But regardless of that, it is just good to know about these things, then there is a pos...

Re: Mindrolling lineage
Yes, it is disconcerting to visit a center and get asked by the resident lama to play an instrument at puja if they follow a different tradition than you. I think most will appreciate anyone doing their best to play it according to the tradition they were taught in, with at least a little understan...

Re: Mindrolling lineage
What? Like Dorje Drak follows Northern Termas, and Dzogchen mainly follows Longchenpa, Let's see at Katog, the main thing is Namcho. That kind of thing? I mainly come from Mindrolling, Palyul and Dodrupchen-- When you attend practices of each they may even use the same text in some cases, but the m...

Re: Mindrolling lineage
As conebeckham has mentioned, the Minling Dorsum is also the main Dorsum practiced at Shechen. As I understand it, it is not only the practice lineage, but it is the the method of rituals, the study structure, the way the shedra study is structured, the annual curriculum and the main drupchen struct...

Chogyam Trungpa gave a series of 6 lectures on Jamgon Kongtrul of Shechen which I found very inspiring. They should be available to purchase from the Vajradhatu Archives. You can listen to the original talks on the Chronicles website http://www.chronicleproject.com/CTRlibrary/jamgon_kongtrul.html S...

Re: Mindrolling lineage
Shechen Monastery based it's tradition on the Mindrolling tradition, as did a number of other practice traditions due to it's thoroughness. Even though they evolved, they take Mindrolling tradition, study and practice as the base. Best to ask a scholar or lama for more.... I come from the fuzzy mind...

Re: Ju Mipham Namgyal Rinpoche (Nyingma?)
Interesting Ashocka but the Karmapa recognizing a Nyingma Master and turning him into a Karma Kagyu Tulku. Who could they go to in the Nyingma with the courage to take back their Tulku. I've heard that a small Canadian - Tibetan boy is a strong candidate for the reincarnation of Namgyal Rinpoche. T...

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's first son was recognised by HH Penor Rinpoche ( http://www.chronicleproject.com/stories_128.html ) and others as the incarnation of Mipham Rinpoche ( http://www.mipham.com/ ) His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche enthroned Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche as a holder of the Rinchen T...

Re: Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet
Thanks Magnus. Yes, I thought that would be the main lineage. I feel confident there are a lot of practice lineages flourishing in Tibet from my brief pilgrimage there in 2007. Especially the nuns in remote monasterys. The more their monastery is isolated, it seemed to me that their practice was les...

Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet
Hello,
I've just viewed the wonderful DVD; "Blessings - The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet". I am wondering if anyone can tell us which Chod they practice and what their main lineage practices are?
http://www.pundarika.org/news/?cat=14
Thanks
Geoff

Re: Lookin' for a copy of the Orgyen Menla Sadhana
Are you referring to the Namcho Medicine Buddha terma by Mingyur Dorje? If so I can send you a copy.gregkavarnos wrote:Anybody know the whereabouts of the sadhana text by Mingyur Dorje?
Vimala Treasures used to have it but not anymore.
Much obliged!
