Re: Introducing myself

Welcome to the forum Carlita, I hope you get lots out of the discussions on here. I'm mostly a lurker, but I've certainly learned a lot from reading on here.

Re: Half Of Brits Say...

Which is an interesting position for people to report when the majority of British people (59.3%), if pushed, would describe themselves as being Christian. Most of those being COE. What a strange self-deluding bunch we are.

Re: Forum participation - how is it for you?

I find many of the discussions go over my head due to the advanced and specialist terminology employed, so I tend not to get stuck-in. Still, I learn plenty by lurking. I prefer those kinds of conversations. Sometimes it's helpful to just ask people what they mean when they use a certain wo...

Re: Dealing with a stressful situation while doing no harm

Have you explained to him in a straight-forward and kind manner the ways in which his behaviour at the moment is unacceptable? If this person considers you a friend then they would hopefully be willing to consider changing their behaviour to retain your friendship.

Re: Ukraine says Malaysian Airliner shot down, 295 dead

Absolutely gutting given the spate of articles recently indicating real progress on HIV/AIDS research. This could set research back years from the loss of expertise and derailed projects.

Re: Ukraine says Malaysian Airliner shot down, 295 dead

Sad, sad news. :( And scary too, given that it pushes military confrontation between Russia and NATO that one step closer.

Re: Soreness in thighs.

Regular rigorous exercise, if possible. Running will increase the soreness in the short term, but I've found on a long-term basis it has really helped improve my sitting and posture.

Re: Levitation in Buddhism

I strongly doubt that levitation is actually possible for human beings. Would be happy to be proved otherwise if any credible evidence is unearthed, but otherwise...

It seems to me to be a distraction from more important things.

Recognising a teacher/guru with integrity

Hi all, I was originally planning on posting these questions in the Tsen Tulku thread http://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=3572 , but I thought that they may have been a bit off-topic so am posting separately. Questions like the ones that have arisen regarding Tsen Tulku make me wonde...

Re: Long retreat

I have a couple of questions, which hopefully someone who has completed a long retreat can answer. Mostly relating to practicalities and the financial aspect of it. How much did it cost in total for the retreat? And whilst you were aware, what happened with your homes, obligations and whatever posse...

Re: Telekinesis

I've never really understood the interest in things like telekenesis and so on that I've encountered. I'm fully open to being wrong on this one, but if it were real I don't know of what real value it would be to human liberation in any case - surely it is a distraction from Dharma practice?

Re: Buddhism / Nonduality Influenced Metal Bands

The newest Gorguts album 'Colored Sands' is full of songs inspired by Tibetan Buddhism and the history of Tibet. And is pretty cracking musically too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rUGQTjh2JI Onward to reach the wheel of time A path of solitude Embraced humbly Hands, face and knees ...
