Re: question on distingushing mind from it's nature

Mind is the same as one's original state. Mind is the not the same as one's original state. Mind is the same and not the same as one's original state. Mind is neither the same nor not the same as one's original state. Problem solved? no. you should go back and read cones post. seems here you are co...

Re: question on distingushing mind from it's nature

So here is the million dollar question: if thoughts and concepts are not also of the nature of mind, if they can only be born of delusion, then has EVERYTHING that has been said and quoted in this thread purely delusional? You changed the wording from your initial "in reality thoughts are none othe...

Re: gaze/open eyes/closed eyes

I've gotten a few different pronouncements on why one should have eyes open during contemplation, rather than closed. I notice though that some teachers and students, and well, sometimes even ChNN Rinpoche had his eyes closed at times. I am wondering if there is any true rule, or if it just a "best...

Re: Chod Damaru vs standard Damaru

Don't think so. It is the big ones used in pujas like the ones Grigoris has shared. Not damaru. i have heard recordings of ChNN playing damaru during puja, just wondering about specifically using a chod drum for something other than chod. Was it really damaru? If yes then it would be the small one ...

Re: Sedona/Flagstaff

Hey guys, I'm headed to Flagstaff and Sedona this weekend for a brief visit and was wondering if anyone knows of any good Buddhist, especially of the Tibetan or Vajrayana persuasion, things to do there. I can't find any groups with actual practices, except there is the Stupa. Any suggestions are ap...

So just to be clear a chod drum should not be used for other practices as mentioned above? Also can someone please recommend a good place to purchase one. Thanks!

Ok, may I ask what word is being translated here and why it did not find a place in the glossary?
Generally, the word being translated here as attachment is chags pa.
It is not a very interesting word, hence no entry.
Ok thanks. I was hearing hoof beats and looking for zebras.

Buddhahood in this Life, topics one and two. It seems the all basis (not sure what you are calling this and have yet to discover in Buddhahood) would be superfluous if all samsara and nirvana already arise from the generic basis. The all-basis ( ālaya, kun gzhi ) is just a name for the imputing ign...
